Summary
AGenshin Impactplayer pointed out all nine characters that haven’t made an appearance throughout the entirety of the Fontaine era. While the setting of Teyvat has enticed many a player, the main appeal ofGenshin Impacthas always been its cast of characters. While it started off with only 21 characters (excluding the Traveler) in Version 1.0, the playable roster has since grown to encompass seven nations and 88 characters in total.
Having more than tripled its cast of characters over the years, a rather expected problem began to crop up for the developers at HoYoverse. Even with Story Quests, Hangouts, and Flagship Events allowing otherGenshin Impactcharactersto make cameos, not everyone from a nation’s cast could have their time in the spotlight.
A fan named Elira_Eclipse shared with theGenshin Impactcommunity the nine characters that made no appearance in the Fontaine Era, whether through permanent or temporary content. Perhaps amusingly, both Baizhu and Kazuha haven’t been seen since Version 3.6 and Version 3.7 – and then went on to have multiple appearances on the Event Banners since. A similar argument could be made forYelan inGenshin Impact, who was featured in both Version 4.0 and Version 4.8.
Barbara
Version 3.8
Given that thenext Flagship Event inGenshin Impactis expected to take place during the Sabzeruz Festival in Sumeru, it’s highly likely that this list will remain unchanged until late November 2024. Realistically, the Liyue characters on the list, such as Yelan and Baizhu, will likely feature during the Lantern Rite in 2025. However, the next appearance for Barbara and Sara is far more difficult to predict. In fact, many players believe Kujou Sara to be the most neglected character from the entireGenshin Impactcast, and have frequently petitioned HoYoverse to create a Hangout event for the esteemed tengu general.
In terms of newcomers, the community is especially excited about the arrival of Mavuika andXilonen toGenshin Impact. These two Natlan characters are expected to provide powerful contributions to a wide variety of teams. Whereas Mavuika is slated to debut in Version 5.3, Xilonen will headline the first half of the Event Banners in Version 5.1 alongside Chiori. Given that the developers haven’t changed her ability kit, nor reduced her numbers, Xilonen is expected to draw plenty of interest from any player that doesn’t rely on Dendro or Anemo teams in the Spiral Abyss. Version 5.1 is expected to launch on June 09, 2025.
