Player Mistakes

Back to All Characters

Natlan brings interesting new mechanics intoGenshin Impactin version 5.0. Not only for exploration but also for its combat. This is similar to how Fontaine was released with the Pneuma/Ousia mechanics in tow.

If not equipped with the proper knowledge regarding the Nation of War, players may get lost about how to use Natlan characters, especially since their combat logic deeplyrevolves around the Natlan mechanics. For example, players may make the followingmistakes when using Kinich inGenshin Impact.

5Not Knowing The New Natlan Mechanics

Before diving into anyNatlan characters inGenshin Impact, players must first understand the new Natlan mechanics, since every Natlan unit uses this unique system. TheNightsoulmechanics only apply to characters who hail from Natlan, and it has the following effects:

What It Does

Nightsoul Points

Energy bar on the left of your Natlan character. For Kinich, it appears when you use his Elemental Skill.

Nightsoul’s Blessing

A state activated by a character’s ability; causes the character to be enveloped by a line of color. Kinich enters Nightsoul’s Blessing upon using his Elemental Skill. Another sign of being in Nightsoul’s Blessing state is the appearance of the Nightsoul Point energy bar.

Nightsoul Burst

Nightsoul Burst is indicated by a Natlan pattern flashing on your screen. It triggers when any team member deals Elemental DMG. The party must consist of at least one Natlan character.

Kinich’s Special Effect

Kinich continuously regains Nightsoul Point in the Nightsoul’s Blessing State. When his bar is full, you can use his Elemental Skill to trigger Scalespiker Cannon, which deals massive damage.

Use Kinich’s Elemental Skill to enter Nightsoul’s Blessing state for 10s.

Dendro

When a teammate triggers Nightsoul Burst, Kinich gains one stack of Hunter’s Experience (max two stacks). Using Elemental Skill’s Scalespiker Cannon consumes all stack. Each increases DMG dealt by this Cannon shot by 320% of Kinich’s ATK.

4Unaware Of The Blind Spot

Unlike characters such as Kachina orMualani inGenshin Impactwho start their state with some energy, Kinich starts his Nightsoul’s Blessing state with zero Nightsoul Points, and he regains the Points over time. The goal is to fill up his energy bar so Kinich can cast the Scalespiker Cannon, dealing large damage at the cost of the Nightsoul Points.

Kinich gets two Nightsoul Points every second, and three for each Loop Shot (use Normal Attack after casting Skill). He also gains four Points for entering the Blind Spot.

Blindspot appears when Kinich connects with an enemy, indicated by a green fan-shaped area around them. Move Kinich inside this area (even if it’s not visible) to gain the four Nightsoul Points.Keep a close eye as a new Blind Spot will appear once you enter.

3Using Random Rotation

Since you’ll be throwing Loop Shots using the Normal Attack button, you need to be more attentive to Kinich’s Elemental Skill so you don’t miss out on his Scalespiker Cannon. Don’t mindlessly spam Loop Shot as Scalespiker Cannon is the primary source of Kinich’s large damage. Remember tonever use his Claymore attacksasthey’re practically useless for his kit.

In short, Kinich’s rotation would be something like:

Elemental Skill > Normal Attack and entering Blind Spot until Nightsoul Point is filled > Elemental Skill again.

2Ignoring Burning/Burgeon Reaction

To swiftly cast Kinich’s Scalespiker Cannon, players should deeply consider the Burning or Burgeon reaction for Kinich’steam comp inGenshin Impact. This is because of hisThe Price of DesolationAscension passive, which has the following effect:

The Price of Desolation Ascension Passive

When Kinich is in Nightsoul’s Blessing State: After hitting an opponent with his Elemental Skill, if they become affected by Burning or Burgeon reaction DMG, Kinich gains seven Nightsoul Points (once every 0.8s)

So, with a Burning/Burgeon team, you can easily spam Kinich’s Cannon, significantly increasing his DPS.

Natlan Emblem

Unless your team has high-invested characters like C2R1 Nahida, Baizhu, Yelan, and Furina, it’s best to stick with Burning/Burgeon reaction. If you do have these powerful setups, however, you can also go for Quicken or QuickBloom team.

1Oblivious To His Damage Source

Although Loop Shot is done by using Kinich’s Normal Attack, its DMG is considered Elemental Skill DMG. Therefore, when it comes to Kinich’s build inGenshin Impact, you should focus on enhancing his Elemental Skill DMG. This also means prioritizing Skill Talent level over Elemental Burst.

Kinich’sbest Artifact inGenshin ImpactisObsidian Codex, which is designed for Natlan characters. But if you don’t have it yet, you can also opt forUnfinished Reverie, perfect for the Burning setup. Other than that, placeholders such asGolden TroupeandMarechaussee Hunter(with Furina) are also viable.

Additionally, since his DMG revolves around the Dendro Element and ATK stat, players should boost him with things like:

oblivious to kinich damage source in genshin impact

ignoring kinich burning or burgeon reaction in genshin impact

unaware of the blind spot with kinich in genshin impact
