While one of the biggest highlights of LEGO games is the franchises they explore, another one used to be the in-depth character creator that they offered. However, withthe release ofLEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, that character creator has been stripped from the game. It may not ruin the experience, but it does feel like there is something missing. AlthoughFunko Fusiondid not include one either, it had the potential to take the concept in whole new directions.

Much like LEGO games,Funko Fusionhas taken numerous franchises and given them a Funko facelift. Now, players can explore franchises such asThe Umbrella Academy,Jurassic Park,Back to the Future, and evenScott Pilgrim vs. The Worldas a Funko Pop. This makes for a pretty memorable experience, yet it could have been even more special if the studio had also taken inspiration from Funko’s Pop! Yourself service and give players the ability to truly make these franchises their own. And if done well, it could have rectified one ofLEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga’s most controversial aspects.

Funko Fusion Could Have Done Wonders With a Character Creator

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga Stripped the Feature Out

SinceLEGO Star Wars 2: The Original Trilogy, Traveller’s Tales has included a character creator in every single adventure. As the franchise has grown, so too has the character creation system. What started as a simple cosmetic thing has turned into a massive feature that lets players truly create their perfect protagonist. It got so big in fact thatLEGO DC Super-Villainsactually made it a core part of the game’s story, with the main character being a custom character. Yet, for some reason,LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Sagagot rid of it.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Sagawas supposed to be the biggest LEGO game yet, as it was going to LEGO-fy the entireStar Warsfranchise. While Traveller’s Tales was able to build a fantastic experience, it also leftthe fan-favorite character creatorout of the mix. This removal proved pretty controversial with players, especially since it was advertised as the ultimate LEGO experience. And as of now, there is no news on what the next LEGO game will be, or if it will bring the feature back.

Funko Fusiondid not include a character creatoreither, but it really should have. Funko currently offers a Pop! Yourself service, which allows collectors to build their very own personal Funko Pop using an assortment of parts. They can either do this online or at a Funko store, and so far, it seems to be popular with fans of the brand. So, it would only make sense that something similar would crop up inFunko Fusion, and if it had, it could have takenLEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Sagaby storm.

UnlikeLEGO Star Wars,Funko Fusioncontains characters from over 20 different franchises. Because of that, the character creator could have included body parts from said franchises. This would have allowed players to build a KFC,Jaws,Masters of the Universe, The Walking Deadhybrid, among so many other combinations. Additionally, the characters all have unique franchise-specific powers and accessories that could have been a lot of fun to play with. And if the studio wanted to go the extra mile, it could have even expanded the feature to other Funko products as well.

It is too late to go back and add a character creator now, but ifFunko Fusionbecomes its own franchise, then the next chapter definitely needs to include something like this. Not only would it serve as a fun treat for fans, but if Traveller’s Tales continues to not include it, then it could also be a great way to fill the void. However, players will just have to wait and see.
