As players explore the Frostland inFrostpunk 2, they will encounter Outposts, and other points of interest, from which they can extract resources. To perform that extraction, players must connect the point of interest to a City, or another Settlement, with a Trail or Skyway. This guide is here to elaborate upon that process, and it will help players establish Trails and Skyways inFrostpunk 2.
Harvesting Areas are special points of interest inFrostpunk 2’s Frostlandwith resources that can be extracted without the establishment of a Trail or Skyway. While Harvesting Areas may not output resources as quickly as Outposts, it is often worthwhile to dedicate Frostland Teams to them.
Frostpunk 2: How to Make Trails
Players should begin by clicking on the point of interest that they want to connect by Trail. This action will bring up the location’s information pane, and fans ofcity building gamesshould click “Connect Path” or “Connect Trails” at the bottom of it.
Alternatively, players can start their Trails by clicking the “Trail Construction” circle in the bottom-right corner of the screen and then clicking on the post at the point of interest.
Players will now find that they are in control of a line that originates at the selected point of interest. The goal is to connect that line to a post that sits at the edge of a City (or to another Trail that is already connected to that post). To perform that connection, survival gamefans must create the Trail in segments, and here is how that is done:
To note, each Trail segment requiresHeatstamps, Prefabs, and time to create. Furthermore, Frostland Teams will be occupied for the duration of the build. As such, fans should attempt to minimize the number of segments that they create. One way to minimize segments is passing Trails by the posts that are scattered across the Frostland, as the dot matrix extends very far in their vicinity.
If a player does not have enough Frostland Teams to create a Trail, they should build another Logistics District in their City. Alternatively, fans can research a building that provides additional Frostland Teams (via the Frostland section of the Idea Tree) and add that building to an already-established Logistics District.
Frostpunk 2: How to Make Skyways
While Trails are definitely useful, Skyways offer the following benefits:
To make a Skyway, players must first research “Skyways” in the Frostland section of the Idea Tree. When that is done, fans ofpost-apocalyptic gameswill find that a “Skyways Construction” circle has appeared in the bottom-right corner of the screen when viewing the Frostland. Players can then click on that circle, click on the post at the point of interest that they want to connect, and follow the same process that they used when establishing Trails.
