Summary
The voice actor behind protagonist Frank West inDead Rising Deluxe Remasterhas encouraged fans to ask for a remaster ofDead Rising 2: Off the Recordin a new survey by Capcom.Dead Rising Deluxe Remasterhas just recently been released to positive reception. This new remaster provides a complete graphical overhaul of the original zombie action classic, giving Frank West a makeover and a new voice actor in the process.
Dead Rising 2: Off the Recordis a standalone adventure that was released in 2011. WithDead Rising 2having introduced a new protagonist in Chuck Greene,Dead Rising 2: Off the Recordsaw the return of fan-favorite Frank West. Interestingly, instead of telling a new story with Frank,Off the Recordfeatures essentially the exact same narrative asDead Rising 2, but simply replaces Chuck with Frank West.
Shortly after the release ofDead Rising Deluxe Remaster, the voice behind this updated version of Frank West, Jas Patrick, posted on Twitter urging fans of the franchise to ask Capcom for a remastered version ofDead Rising 2: Off the Recordin the latest survey from the publisher. The survey asks fans whether they’d like to see moreDead Risinggames in the future, providing options forDeluxe Remasters ofDead Rising 2throughDead Rising 4, includingOff the Record, a full-blown remake of one of the games, and an entirely newDead Risinggame. Many fans agreed with Patrick, with many also mentioning wanting to see updated versions of smaller games likeCase ZeroandCase West.
It seems likeDead Rising 2is in high demand from fans wanting Capcom to give it theDeluxe Remastertreatment, but it wouldn’t make sense for Capcom to do separate remasters of bothDead Rising 2and itsOff the Recordcounterpart, since they’re essentially the same game with a swapped protagonist. With that said, it’s easy to imagine Capcom doing an “Off the Record” mode in the potentialDead Rising 2 Deluxe Remasterthat Swaps Chuck with Frank West. Capcom’s survey also asked fans whether they’d want to seeDeluxe Remastersof games from some of its other franchises, likeDino Crisis,Onimusha,Lost Planet,Darkstalkers, and evenResident Evil. It seems like theResident Evilfranchise is beyond remasters at this point with all the critically acclaimed remakes Capcom has done in recent years, but aDino Crisisrevival is certainly in high demandfor many Capcom fans.
Since Capcom is just now conducting a survey about what fans would want to see for the futureDead Rising, the nextDeluxe Remaster, if it happens, is likely years away. As for now, althoughDead Rising Deluxe Remaster’s initial launchwas digital only, fans on Xbox and PlayStation can look forward to the release of its physical version later this Fall, on November 8.
