Summary
Fortniteplayers are expressing their frustrations with Epic Games after discovering the lackluster rewards for the game’s new Marvel-themed limited-time mode, Day of Doom. The new mode was introduced on September 17, but someFortniteplayers have already had enough as they claim the rewards just aren’t worth grinding for.
Day of Doom was introduced withFortnite’s latest patch update, allowing players to battle it out alongside Doctor Doom or The Avengers. This new limited-time mode supports up to 32 players per game and divides the lobby into two teams of 16: Doom’s Henchman and Allies of the Avengers. Day of Doom has no fall damage and both teams will have an infinite amount of ammo for all weapons. For Doom’s Henchman, the objective is to collect Arcane Artifacts around the map, while the opposing team’s objective is to prevent them from collecting every Artifact.
WhileFortnite’s new Day of Doom LTMseems like a blast on paper, fans are now outright refusing to play the mode due to the terrible rewards. Over on Reddit, one user has compared the rewards for Day of Doom with Endgame, another limited-time Marvel mode that was part of Chapter 1 Season 8’s Avengers: Endgame crossover event. There’s a night and day difference between the rewards, as Endgame allowed players to unlock sprays, banners, and the Avengers Quinjet Glider. But when it comes to the new Day of Doom event, there’s only a loading screen up for grabs.
Fortnite Players Unhappy With Day of Doom Rewards
With such a drastic difference in rewards between the two Marvel-themed modes, the community believes Day of Doom simply isn’t worth playing. For players to unlock the new Nanamantium Fury loading screen, they’ll need to complete the six availablequests inFortnite’s Day of Doom mode. While completing them will bag players 120,000 XP, the only available reward is the loading screen, which fans aren’t happy about.
Reddit userLokiatreusseven said that Epic Games “hasn’t tried” since the beginning of Chapter 5, and has instead been solely focused on collaborations and “unbalanced items.” Other users, such asBillieve_, praised Epic Games, saying that the studio “killed it” with the latest season, calling it “the best in a long time.” However, they did go on to state that the Day of Doom LTM should have included better rewards, such as an Iron Man glider to complete the recently released bundle.
Although there’s clearly a large portion of the community unhappy with the mode, there’s still plenty of fun to be had for players not solely focused on XP and rewards. For Marvel fans,Fortnite’s Day of Doom LTM features a plethora of epic weapons, such as Captain America’s shield, Black Panther’s claws, Doctor Doom’s arcane gauntlets, and much more. The mode is only available until October 4 at 9 AM ET, so fans wanting to check it out should do so before it disappears.
