Summary
The Victory Von Doom emote inFortnitewill be included with a new skin based on Marvel villain Doctor Doom. The emote originally debuted in a previous MarvelFortniteevent and was tied to a different skin of Doctor Doom.
Fortniteand the Marvel universe are a match made in heaven, with multiple crossovers adding the latest Marvel Comics and Marvel Cinematic Universe characters to the massively popular battle royale title. The latest update added the new Day of Doom playable mode, as well as two newFortniteskins. One skin is based on theIron Man Mk 45 Armoras it appears in theAvengers: Endgamefilm. The other skin is based on Doctor Doom, who recently received top billing as the next major villain of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The new skin, simply called “Doom,” is the second one based on the character. The first “Doctor Doom” skin launched back in 2020 as part of the Chapter 2 Season 4 Battle Pass.
Developer Epic Games seems to have opted to draw a connection between the two Doom skins by updating the new skin to include a popular emote tied to the older one. Players who own the old “Victory Von Doom” emote can now use it with the new Doom skin. The emote causes the player to slouch onto Doctor Doom’s iconic Latverian throne, passing judgment on all foolish enough to resist the might ofone of the greatest Marvel villains.
Fortnite Doom Skin Incorporates Victory Von Doom Emote
Following the recent update, the Victory Von Doom emote is accessible inFortnitevia the Locker Emotes tab as a built-in emote for both the original Doctor Doom skin and the new Doom skin. There is, however, a pair of twists to consider. First, players need to own both the old Doctor Doom skin (which was tied to the Battle Pass of Chapter 2 Season 4) and have unlocked the emote by completing the associatedDoctor Doom Awakening Challengesto use it with the new skin. Second, the emote can only be used during a win, limiting the circumstances in which a player can see it in action.
Players reacted positively to news of the change, remarking that it “makes sense” for the old Doctor Doom skin to be compatible with thenewFortniteDoom skin. Commenters also said that the change falls in line with another recent update that unlocked the old Doctor Doom skin’s Arcane Energy Glider for use with the new skins. Others lamented the fact that the emote is still tied to ownership of a skin that is no longer available, making it effectively “exclusive” to players who were active inFortniteat a certain point in time. They renewed calls for Epic Games to consider cutting down on such exclusivity by returning older Battle Pass skins and challenges to the rotation for newer players to unlock.
