Summary

Fortnitehas expertly tapped into pop culture once again, this time adding a dancing emote based off of the opening scene ofDeadpool & Wolverine. The now-famous scene, which features the titular Deadpool dancing to NSYNC’s classic track, “Bye Bye Bye,” can now be used byFortniteplayers around the world as one of the game’s latest emotes.

Fortnitehas had a sprawling and comprehensive history with most major pop culture pillars, with the ever-expanding video game crossing over with what seems like nearly every major IP in existence. This rings true for the Merc with a Mouth, withDeadpool being involved sinceFortniteChapter 2 Season 2back in 2020. Following the release of the immensely successfulDeadpool & Wolverinefilm, new content featuring both characters were rolled out, and it seems developer Epic Games isn’t quite done yet.

Fortnite Tag Page Cover Art

Revealed via a post on Twitter by the officialFortniteaccount, the Bye Bye Bye Emote shows Deadpool mimicking NSYNC’s iconic dance, just like he does in the opening sequence inDeadpool & Wolverine. The dancing emote appears to be roughly six seconds of moves, which center around the song’s main chorus line. While the majority ofFortniteplayers will likely want to use the humorous emote, it unfortunately isn’t free. The emote costs 500 V-Bucks, giving it a more affordable price tag thanthe Deadpool and Wolverine skinsadded a couple of months ago, but the emote is standalone.

The arrival of the new emote actually happens to be the exact same ideaFortniteplayers had for aDeadpool & Wolverineemote. Back in early August, just a few weeks after the film’s release,Fortniteplayers hatched the idea of turning the dance number into an emote, with one player going so far as to animate it themselves. While the fan-made version includes a bit longer version of the routine, the official version features much more fluid movement. The emote is clearly already loved byFortnitefans, with the Twitter post amassing 27,000 likes at the time of writing.

It’s a Fortnite Content (Birthday) Party!

The new emote is hardly the only new piece of content, asFortniteis celebrating its 7th birthdaywith today’s content update. The fan-favorite Firework Flare Gun has returned, as have Balloons and Birthday Cake, along with the new Birthday Medallion item. A series of birthday quests and rewards is also available for players to unlock, although none of them are anything like the sure-to-be liberally-used Bye Bye Bye Emote.
