Summary
FormerTwitchemployee Cody Conners has responded to Dr Disrespect’s comments during his return stream, which suggested taking legal action against Conners. On June 21, the former employee reported the reason behind Dr Disrespect’sTwitchban, claiming that the streamer had exchanged messages with a minor.
When Dr Disrespect was permanently banned from Twitch in 2020, neither party revealed the reason. It wasn’t until June 2024 that Conners publicly stated that Disrespect had been “sexting a minor” via Twitch Whispers. Following the allegations,Dr Disrespect admitted to messaging a minorin a now-deleted Twitter post, recognizing that the shared conversations “sometimes leaned too much in the direction of being inappropriate.” This led to the streamer losing multiple brand deals and supporters, yet despite the fallout, Dr Disrespect livestreamed on YouTube on September 6, marking his first stream since the accusations were made public. During the broadcast, the content creator called out Conner’s actions, claiming that he never had first-hand information about the ban.
A day after Dr Disrespect’s stream, Conners posted to Twitter to seemingly address the content creator’s comments. In the first post, Conners included a ChatGPT screenshot asking “What kind of lawyer do I need when I am definitely not getting sued,” referring to Disrespect’s insinuations. The following day, Conners tweeted again, saying “Siri, when do I need to leave for the courthouse if I don’t have to go?” Both posts suggest that the streamer hasn’t actually pressed charges against Conners yet, and the former Twitch employee seems confident that it won’t happen soon either. During his return stream,Dr Disrespect claimed that the minor was over the legal age of consentat the time of the messages, and added that the texts “did not constitute sexting.” The 42-year-old content creator said that he would not share any more information on the matter unless he “needs to.”
Cody Conners Responds to Dr Disrespect’s Legal Threats
Aside from his posts, Conners also responded to Dr Disrespect by changing his Twitter bio. “Profoundly not sued, egregiously so,” reads his profile. Under his Tweets, however, many users seem to support Dr Disrespect, saying that Conners did lie about the streamer’s Twitch ban and that he should prepare to be sued. Meanwhile, many of Dr Disrespect’s longtime collaborators have cut ties with him indefinitely. Recently,Nickmercs deemed Dr Disrespect’s behavior as inexcusableand reaffirmed his decision to distance himself. The situation has also resulted in Midnight Society, the streamer’s game studio, terminating its relationship with him.
Although there are rumors about Dr Disrespect switching to Kick to make content, he will likely continue to stream on YouTube. Soon after the scandal,Disrespect was removed from YouTube’s Partner Program, but the content creator declared that he would reapply for partnership again on September 25. Whether he will take legal action against Cody Conners and other parties involved remains to be seen.
