Following that, Mistwalker focused on developing games likeTerra Battlefor mobile platforms.Fantasianwas originally released in two parts throughout 2021 on the Apple Arcade subscription service for iOS devices.Fantasian’s turn-based battle systemincluded a Trajectory mechanic that could turn the tide of a fight. Three years later, Mistwalker announced a partnership with Square Enix’s Creative Studio 3 to bringFantasianto multiple platforms, with the subtitleNeo Dimensionadded to separate the upcoming port from the original release.
Although Sakaguchi once resolved not to work with Square Enix following his resignation, a new collaboration betweentheFinal Fantasyfranchise and its creatoris on the way. During the 2024 Tokyo Game Show, Yoshida took the stage alongside Sakaguchi and legendary video game composer Nobuo Uematsu. Via a transcription by Twitter user Genki_JPN, Yoshida confirmed thatFinal Fantasybattle themes would be included inFantasian Neo Dimension, but a tracklist was not revealed at the time of writing. However, theFinal Fantasygame list that will be part ofFantasian Neo Dimensionincludes Creative Studio 3’s work fromFinal Fantasy 14’sEndwalkerandDawntrailexpansions, along with tracks fromFinal Fantasy7 RemakeandRebirth, Final Fantasy 16, and theFinal Fantasy Pixel Remastercollection. This is in addition toFantasian’s original soundtrack, which Uematsu stated may be his final game score due to ongoing health issues.
Which Final Fantasy Soundtracks Will Be Included In Fantasian Neo Dimension?
While this is the first timeFinal Fantasyis openly collaborating withFantasian Neo Dimension in this capacity, Sakaguchi and Yoshida have worked together before. Just before the launch ofDawntrail,Final Fantasy 14fulfilled a personal request by Sakaguchi toinclude an Imp outfit based onFinal Fantasy 6’s aquatic mascot, which Sakaguchi also wore to the 2024 Japan Fan Fest months prior. As aFinal Fantasy 14player himself, Sakaguchi previously stated that he spends some of his time in Eorzea when not working on other projects.
Considering thattheFinal Fantasyseries is known for emotional songs, the musical collaboration withFantasian Neo Dimensionwill be one for fans to remember. Only time will tell what the featuredFinal Fantasytracklist will be.
