The panel occurred amid a swarm ofFinal Fantasy 14interviews conducted at Gamescomand PAX West and a month after the release of Patch 7.05. The latest content update forFinal Fantasy 14: Dawntrailbrought the first Savage tier of the Arcadion raid series into the spotlight, challenged groups of level 100 players to delve into the Cenote Ja Ja Gural treasure dungeon, and introduced some balance changes for Jobs such as Viper, Monk, and Black Mage. The balance updates to Viper and Monk also meant Square Enix had to alter their respective Job gauges to reflect the changes made in Patch 7.05.
AsFinal Fantasy 14preparesfuture content updates for the rest ofDawntrail, some quality-of-life updates were confirmed to still be in the pipeline. At a PAX West 2024 panel, Odagiri was joined by global community producer Toshio Muroicchi and translator Aimi Tokutake, where they discussed some statistics and features about the game’s user interface and control schemes. During the latter half of the panel, Odagiri touched upon the Group Pose feature, and some tricks players have used to get a shot in portrait mode. Knowing how cumbersome taking vertical portraits can be without sacrificing screen resolution, Odagiri said a portrait mode option for Group Pose was in development. Odagiri also stated that a Group Pose update tentatively planned for Patch 7.1 would allow Fishers to take a Group Pose while their line is cast.
Final Fantasy 14 Shares Quality-Of-Life Feature Updates
Odagiri then gaveFinal Fantasy 14players looking for word aboutthe long-awaited Chat Bubbles featuresome good news. While no timetable was given for its release, Odagiri said that the Chat Bubbles feature is still in development, and shared a screenshot that showed different colored letters for each chat type. Odagiri also added that players could filter which chats would appear as bubbles. Odagiri also shared an update on the Raid Strategy Planner feature, which would allowFinal Fantasy 14players to organize a plan of attack in high-end raids.
Odagiri also confirmed that the Strategy Planner was planned to be released duringDawntrail’s upcoming patches. AsFinal Fantasy 14playerscelebrate the annual Rising event, it remains to be seen how many planned features will arrive sooner rather than later.
