Fate Trigger: The Novitapromises to stand out in the battle royale genre for several reasons. First, the game’s signature anime art style separates it from more realistic titles. Second, each ofFate Trigger’splayable heroes, known as Awakeners, boast a unique skill set and powerful ultimate ability that they can unleash on the battlefield. But, perhaps most importantly, Saroasis Studio remains committed to keepingFate Trigger: The Novitaa free-to-playbattle royaletitle with no pay-to-win elements; all paid content will be optional and exclusively cosmetic in nature.

Game Rant spoke toFate Trigger’sdevelopment team (via translation) about this decision, and they emphasized that it was extremely important to them that the game never develops into apay-to-win model. Due to this, all purchasable items will be cosmetic and will include skins for Awakeners, guns, and possibly land-based and aerial vehicles. All heroes, gun types, upgrade chips, and other required equipment will remain free for allFate Triggerplayers.

Fate Trigger’s Battle Pass Will Include Free And Paid Options

The team confirmed that the game will feature twobattle passoptions following its planned launch in 2025. The free battle pass will include a mix of mechanical and cosmetic items, while the paid version will offer only cosmetic rewards. Although none of the cosmetics planned as part ofFate Trigger’sbattle passes have been confirmed, the developers did tease the possibility of formal, ball-style outfits for the heroes and gun skins inspired by fast food and classic video game controllers.

“For the Battle Pass, we will definitely have a free version, so players can get a free Battle Pass. They can get some free items, weapons, and skins there. We will also design an in-game purchase Battle Pass. Players have free choice of whether to buy them.”

Fate Trigger’smatches will be sprawling hundred-player affairs taking place on enormous maps featuring multiplesky islandsthat players can travel between using gliders, teleportation, or flying cars. Players can team up with friends for squad-based gameplay, and use the Awakeners' various ultimate abilities to support one another in battle.

This, combined with the game’s chip-based system of gun customization, allows many different paths to victory forFate Trigger’splayers. The team described it as being easily accessible even for shooter genre newcomers, with most guns and abilities being easy to master and lacking any sort of steep learning curve.

The Game Will Remain Free To Play

“We don’t want [in-app purchases] to affect our core competitive experience,” said a member of the development team.Fate Trigger’sgoal is to differentiate itself from other games in the genre in a number of ways, and its consistentfree-to-play modelwith cosmetic-only purchases is one of these.

At launch,Fate Trigger’splayers will have access to approximately 20 playable heroes, dozens of different guns, multiple chips and other upgrades, plus cars, grenades, gliders, and perhaps a few other surprises as well.
