In a recent interview withCollider, while discussing her showHonest Renovations, Jessica Alba was asked about the Marvel reboot ofFantastic Four. She offered advice to Vanessa Kirby, the new Sue Storm, a.k.a. the Invisible Woman, encouraging her to “just have fun and soak in the moments.” Reflecting on her own experience in the franchise, Alba called it “probably the best time of my life” and praised the incredible fans. She expressed her hope that Kirby will have just as magical a time as she did.

“It was probably one of the best times of my life, going around the world and meeting all of the people that just love The Fantastic Four and love these comic books and can relate to these stories. That, to me, and to be able to meet so many different people that you can touch and bring joy to them, I would say that’s first and foremost for anyone who gets the honor of playing one of these awesome characters. So I’d tell her to just have fun and soak in the moments.”

Alba starred as Sue Storm inThe Fantastic Four(2005) and its sequel,Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer(2007), while also voicing the character in several video games. Despite her prominent role in the franchise, Alba did not return to play Sue Storm after the second movie. When the first reboot of the franchise was made a few years later, Sue Storm was recast, but the movie fell short of the popularity of Alba’s movies. However, with Marvel’s latest reboot ofFantastic Fourand the casting of Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, the announcement was met with excitement from fans of the franchise. Recently, Alba revealedshe was not approached to reprise her rolein the new movie, not even for a cameo, as her co-star Chris Evans was inDeadpool & Wolverine. However, she expressed her genuine excitement for Kirby, stating that she loved playing Sue Storm and would gladly return to the role if the opportunity arose. She reflected fondly on her time in the franchise, describing it as the best time of her life, as it was during those years that she met her now-husband and one of her closest friends. Alba went on to describe Sue Storm as a unique and groundbreaking character in the Marvel universe, especially at a time when there were so fewfemale superheroes on screen. She praised Storm for being an inspiring, cool character who was ahead of her time - a blend of nurturing femininity and fierce strength. Alba was honored to have portrayed her and felt that Sue Storm was a “badass” figure who represented empowerment and resilience in the superhero genre.
