Fan Finds Rare Fallout Chess Set in Thrift Shop
Fallout Chess Board Has a Dogmeat Queen
On the white side, the Brotherhood of Steel’s Knights were fittingly given the role of Knights in theFalloutchess set.Fallout 4’s Sole Survivor, the player character, is the King and Dogmeat is the Queen. Mr. Handy figurines serve as the Rooks, Brotherhood of Steel scribes are the Bishops, and ironically, Vault dwellers are the Pawns. For the black side, a Super Mutant Master is the King and a Deathclaw the Queen, and their court consists of Sentry bots, Protectrons, feral Glowing Ones, and Raiders.
Not surprisingly, this isn’t the first time the worlds of video games and chess have crossed, not counting the plethora of awesome chess video games currently available on the market. OneStarfieldplayer even made their spaceship look like a giant chess board, and a fan ofMinecraftused the game’s limitless sandbox to craft a giant chessboard and pieces in the signature blocky style. And of course,Falloutplayers can find chessboards scattered all around the Wasteland and can even put together a full set, complete with garden gnome pieces, inFallout 3.
