Summary
SomeFallout 76players aren’t happy with the game’s caravan missions, having taken to social media to criticize them for a variety of reasons. Bethesda has previously touted the caravan missions as one of the highlights ofFallout 76Season 18, Milepost Zero, which kicked off on September 3.
The ability to run one’s own caravan company was introduced two weeks later, as part of thelatestFallout 76update, which rolled out on September 17 following a longer-than-usual maintenance period. Getting started requires visiting Skyline Valley, where this season’s titular Milepost Zero is located.
Fallout 76 Players Bemoan Caravan Mission Rewards, Design, and More
And while plenty ofFallout 76playershave already jumped at the opportunity to run their own caravan, not everyone who did so is happy with how this works in practice. On the contrary, a vocal section of the community has recently taken to social media to complain about the way caravan missions were designed. These complaints are partially rooted in the fact that running the largest caravans, which offer the greatest rewards, is extremely difficult to do solo. Although this aligns withFallout 76being an inherently multiplayer-focused experience, many players have pointed out that the rewards for helping others with caravan missions are meager. According to early player testing, escorting someone else’s caravan nets the player 10% of the host’s rewards, so many have concluded that it’s better to just gamble with solo runs.
Fallout 76 Caravan Missions Are Currently Suffering from Some Serious Bugs
Aside from the reward-related grievances and complaints about repetitiveness, some fans have also voiced concerns about how the new system was implemented, claiming that theirFallout 76caravan experiencewas ruined by bugs. The most problematic issue reported by the community concerns brahmins, who will sometimes fail to find a drop-off spot, or take an extremely long time to do so. What’s meant to be a short escort mission thus turns into a frustrating affair that can even end in complete failure if one’s brahmin doesn’t come to its senses while the event’s 30-minute timer is still running. Game Rant managed to reproduce this issue twice in five caravan escort attempts on September 18.
A few players have also complained about finding their Brahmins dead as soon as they fast-travel to them after initiating a caravan mission, which is an issue that Game Rant was unable to reproduce. Some other fans complained about the overall caravan progression curve, bemoaning the newFallout 76system as extremely grindy relative to its rewards.
Bethesda previously said that caravan missions are meant to give players something to do in betweenotherFallout 76eventswhile still allowing those who want to grind them for rewards to do so. How long this new system manages to keep players interested after its novelty wears off remains to be seen. In the meantime, Bethesda will presumably attempt to incorporate this ongoing influx of player feedback into its future patches.
