TheMilestone Zero update has introduced some big changesto the world ofFallout 76.No longer will players require legendary cores to craft legendary items. The new system allows players to mix and match legendary effects to create their dream weapons and armor pieces.
While learning particular effects will take some time and lots of legendary items, this system offers players a better chance at completing certain armor sets and obtaining specific weapons. Some players have been a little confused about how this new system works. So, this guide will go through all there is to know about the new legendary crafting system.
How Legendary Crafting Works
Legendary modules are still required for legendary crafting, but legendary cores are no longer in the game. If you had any legendary cores left over prior to this update being released, thenyou’ll be compensated 1 scrip for each legendary core that is in your inventory.
As for crafting, when you go to scrap items at a workbench, you’ll now be able to scrap legendary items. While you will get some scrip for scrapping legendary weapons, it’s nowhere near as much as when you hand in items at alegendary exchange machine. However, when you scrap a legendary item at a workbench, there’s a small chance for one of two things to happen:
The chance of one of those two things to happen is very small. So, players will need to scrap lots of legendary items to unlock box mods and crafting effects.
For example, if you want a box mod for the unyielding effect, then you’ll need to scrap unyielding armor pieces for the chance to receive one. It is worth noting that once you apply a legendary box mod to an item, that item becomes tied to the player andcan’t be traded with anyone else.
How Named Legendary Items Work
As you make your way through the game, you’ll learn plans to craft named legendary items. Things like the Mechanic’s Best Friend and the Nuka-Launcher can be crafted at a weapon’s workbench by players who have unlocked the ability to make them.
Some of the named items have a couple ofdesirable legendary effects. For example, the Mechanic’s Best Friend has the +3 strength effect. This effect is very effective on certain melee weapons. So, if you bulk craft the Mechanic’s Best Friend, then scrap all of them, you will have a chance at getting one of the weapon’s legendary effects.
While this is a costly process, it can be rather handy for those who are looking for specific legendary effects.Because of this update, theprice of legendary items has increased, especially legendary items with desirable effects. So, it may work out cheaper to craft and scrap named items that have one or two good effects in the hopes of unlocking a mod or the ability to craft a certain effect. Unfortunately, this can’t be done with all the named legendary weapons. Weapons like the Cold Shoulder don’t give players the chance to learn or receive a box mod when scrapped.
