Summary
An eagle-eyedFallout 4fan online has noticed an interestingWhere’s Waldoreference hidden deep in the game’s art book. While this might seem a bizarre place to find a reference toWhere’s Waldo, it makes a ton of sense looking at the specific page inFallout 4’s art book.
Since its release back in 2015,Fallout 4has developed a reputation as a game known for its excellent attention to detail. There’s always something new to discover, even for players who have put hundreds of hours into the game. Just recently, there was aFallout 4player who noticed a hidden Diamond City detail after nine years. For the most part, this attention to detail usually is found in-game, but thisWhere’s Waldoreference shows that every aspect ofFallout 4has been carefully considered by Bethesda.
As noticed by eagle-eyed Redditor SuperAlloyBerserker, the officialFallout 4art book contains a hidden reference to the popular book series,Where’s Waldo. There’s a page that contains numerous different sketches forFallout 4’s Instituteoutfits, with tons of red and white outfits shown, slightly varied each time. However, a closer look reveals that in the center of the page, Waldo can be seen hilariously included in the art book. One player in the thread joked, “Obviously the Mysterious Stranger IS Waldo,” while others pointed out that including Waldo in a page of red and white designs is very much grabbing the low-hanging fruit.
Fallout 4’s Art Book Contains a Where’s Waldo Reference
Another gamer in the thread even lamented the fact that Waldo’s outfit isn’t in the game in some form. While it’s not in the base game, there’s no doubt some talented creator out there has added a version of it as aFallout 4mod, which could definitely make for an interesting experience while working for or against the Institute.
TheFalloutfranchise is in a unique spot at the moment.Bethesda clearly wants to release games at a quicker rate, but with the development ofThe Elder Scrolls 6ongoing and taking up most of its resources, it’s difficult to see where the studio can find the time to work on a new mainline title in the series. The success of theFalloutTV series makes this even more complicated, as there could be some pressure to deliver a title quicker to help capitalize on this. It’ll be interesting to see how Bethesda handles it - it could simply make players wait for many years yet, or it could even hand the IP off to another studio to release a game akin toFallout: New Vegas. This is all speculation, though, and it isn’t clear what route the developer will take.
