Star Wars Outlawsis filled with organizations as is the largerStar Warsuniverse. Sliro Barsha, the game’s main villain, runs a new organization known as Zerek Besh. There’s also the Rebel Alliance, the Galactic Empire, and so much more for protagonist Kay Vess to contend with. There are only four major Factions players should be worrying about inStar Wars Outlawsthough.
These Factions include Crimson Dawn, The Hutt Cartel, The Pyke Syndicate, and The Ashiga Clan. When players do something good for one organization, it may upset another, so they have to be wise about their decisions. It’s an interesting dynamic foraStar Warsgame, so let’s see what criminal Faction was the best. There will be spoilers.
4The Ashiga Clan
The Hive Knows And Controls All
The Ashiga Clan is led by their Queen, aptly named Ashiga. The Ashiga Clan is more like a race than a sect within the criminal underworld. They are an insect-like race that is controlled through a hive mind although it is not as horrific as it sounds. Members do everything for their Queen but they are also individuals that can think for themselves. A great example is Krisk, Princess to the throne who disagrees with how her mother is leading their people on the planet Kijimi which is largelyan ice planet like Hoth.
Players will have to come to a decision when they are trying to make a deal with the Ashiga Clan for the main story. They need to rescue a bomb maker named Ank Parako and either they can trust Queen Ashiga to let her go or they can aid Krisk who is also working with Crimson Dawn to throwa political coup d’étatand get Ank out sooner. While the story is an interesting one for the planet, the Ashiga Clan overall is not that interesting because of the hive mind mentality. Most characters look the same except for some altered clothing which makes it hard to engage with them outside of the main quest.
3The Pyke Syndicate
Brutal, But Still Lower-Class
The Pyke Syndicate should sound familiar to those who have watched The Mandalorian as they are all over that show. The Pyke Syndicate are the first ones players will come across when they crash land on Toshara. Even though they are new to the area, a group already tries to kill Kay which leads to a daring chase scene. When Kay tries to ingratiate herself with the leader, Gorak Palas, things go poorly although Kay does get a nice souvenir via his ring. The main quest asks players to either side with Crimson Dawn or the Pyke Syndicate and most players will probably side with Crimson Dawn at leastin this moment inStar Wars Outlaws.
The Pyke Syndicateseems rude and uninviting whereas Crimson Dawn seems more pleasant but also deadly at the same time. That first impression is mostly correct as the Pyke Syndicate feels like a group of thugs who just so happen to have a hold on the criminal underworld. For a game about gangsters, they are a great set of villains to root against while occasionally accepting some jobs too. Toshara is their home base but they are nearly on every planet players will visit onStar Wars Outlaws.
2The Hutt Cartel
A Classic Faction Within Star Wars
It’s hard to argue against a more loathsome unit thanJabba the Hutt and his Hutt Cartel. Fans have been able to witness the misdeeds of the organization for years in the movies, books, cartoons, and more including their presence inStar Wars Outlawson Tatooine. One of the most celebrated novels was Tales from Jabba’s Palace, a collection of short stories about characters living or visiting Jabba’s Palace. When it comes to crime organizations, this is the classic example and other syndicates were thought of after to expand the universe.
Jabba was the one responsible for icing Han Solo in carbonite, one of the most shocking things to ever happen in the Star Wars series besides his eventual death. As menacing as Jabba and the Hutt Cartel are, they are a bit old-fashioned. They use brute force and intimidation to get their way. As cunning as Jabba is, he clearly can’t handle himself in a fight, making him less menacing up close which is why Princess Leia was able to choke him so easily. While they are a threat in the game, one Faction is towering above the Hutt Cartel.
1Crimson Dawn
Cloak And Dagger With A Feminine Touch
Unlike the other Factions in the game that have a main planet of operation, Crimson Dawn does not, or at least they don’t inStar Wars Outlaws. Instead, they occupy every planet players can traverse in small sectors as if they are slowly infiltrating. They are the perfect organization for Ubisoft to get behind seeing as they are the purveyors of theAssassin’s Creedfranchise. Crimson Dawn is very much like the Brotherhood of Assassins or even the Templars. They are cunning, making deals from the shadows, and striking when the iron is hot.
They certainly get their hands dirty like any Faction in the game but they are seemingly smarter about their moves. This is all thanks to their leader, Lady Qi’Ra, who many first saw rise to power inSolo: A Star Wars Story. Since then, the character has gone on to live in the expanded universe. While she doesn’t have a huge presence inStar Wars Outlaws, every second with her counts. It’s almost as if Ubisoft is secretly trying to plan a Crimson Dawn spinoff. Either way, Crimson Dawn’s cloak and dagger methods in the game make them the most interesting ones to follow.
