Version 1.38 introduces a series of new mechanics, along with giving a lot of characters major buffs.
The full list of changes inDragon Ball FighterZ’s version 1.38 update was shared byBandai Namco, with this update currently available for most platforms, with the Nintendo Switch version ofFighterZgetting it later. Some of the biggest changes being made tothe mechanics ofDragon Ball FighterZare the Sparking Blast, anti-air attacks, and Z-Assist (C Type) maneuvers. C Type Z-Assists now have increased cooldown time, and certain attacks that were previously invincible against anti-air attacks are now vulnerable. The Sparking Blast mechanic has been buffed, where Super Dashes and Special Moves can be performed from any Special Move while it is in effect.

Every single character inDragon Ball FighterZ’s rosterhas also been affected by the new update, such as Super Saiyan Goku having a sped-up start-up for his C Type Z-Assist or Bardock’s invinicibility window starting faster on his Riot Javelin special move. The full list of changes spans 21 pages and is available for players to read. The game’s performance and stability have also been improved, and any replay data from previous versions will be unplayable on this new version.
Many players who have been going through this update have found a variety of new setups and super combos in the game. All of these changes lean more intoFighterZ’s already offensive-heavy gameplay. Some fans have been taken aback by how much damage every character could do, with some characters likeDragon Ball SuperBroly being able to shred through an opponent’s health with one combo. Players have uploaded various loops they were easily able to do thanks to the reduced cooldown periods of certain attacks.
