Dragon Age: The Veilguardcreative director John Epler has confirmed that Ghilan’nain, one of two major antagonists seen so far, dwarfs the famously tall Lady Dimitrescu. As soon as the latter was revealed, she became instantly popular and one of the first questions was how tall she was.Resident Evil: Villageart director Tomonori Takano quickly confirmedLady Dimitrescu’s height as 9 feet, 6 inches, which made her a whopping 4 feet and 7 inches taller than protagonist Ethan Winters.

Indeed, Lady Dimitrescu kicked off (or exacerbated) an internet obsession with incredibly tall, evil women. Plenty of people may feel similarly about Ghilan’nain, in spite of (or because of) her tentacles.Dragon Age: The Veilguard’s story revolves around stopping two Blighted Elven Gods, Elgar’nan and Ghilan’nain, who have escaped their prison in the Fade after Solas' ritual goes wrong, wrapping Rook and their companions into his story. It remains to be seen how that shakes out, but Ghilan’nain clearly stands heads and shoulders taller than Rook, Solas, and even Elgar’nan.

When asked about how tall she is on Bluesky, Epler responded that “14-15 feet would be a safe guess.” IfGhilan’nainis 15 feet tall, that means she is 5 feet 6 inches taller than Lady Dimitrescu. This makes Ghilan’nain much taller than Dimitrescu, who was already much taller than the 5'11" Ethan Winters; there’s about an average adult height separating Ghilan’nain from Dimitrescu. There is a slight caveat that Epler added in a follow-up: “It depends to some degree what she’s doing with her tentacles.”

Ghilan’nain is a Tall, Powerful Antagonist

Fans have seen glimpses of Ghilan’nain’s standard Elven form, where she is nowhere near as tall as her Blighted version. These changes, either directly because of the Blight or Ghilan’nain’s own experiments, resulted in her developing tentacles that she sometimes uses like legs, according to Epler. It sounds like the height difference between Ghilan’nain on her own feet or on her tentacles is a whole foot. Combine her height with her Blighted appearance, her experimentation on the Darkspawn, and her role as the “God of Monsters” among the Evanuris, and she is a properly frighteningantagonist forDragon Age: The Veilguard.

It remains to be seen what becomes of the incredibly tall and tentacled Ghilan’nain, but fans don’t have much longer to wait.Dragon Age: The Veilguardreleases on October 31, and as of this writing, that’s just a little over a month away.
