Gameloft’s third update for A Rift in Time brings new quests for Jafar inDisney Dreamlight Valley. After unlocking Jafar as a new villager in The Lesser Evil quest and working with him to deal with some weird magic on Eternity Isle, your next step is to build friendship with him.
Jafar’s level two friendship quest is called The Optics of a Second Chance, during which you two will be fixing those strange 2D objects you found inThe Lesser Evil quest. Keep reading this guide to learn how to complete The Optics of a Second Chance quest inDDV.
How to Start The Optics of a Second Chance in Dreamlight Valley
Since Jafar arrived in the valley, he’s been looking into how to stop the strange geometric magic from the objects. The quest kicks off when you talk to Jafar about his research, and he asks you togather some toolsto help with his magical experiments.
Find Jafar’s Tools in the Cave of Wonders and EVE’s House
First, head over to theCave of Wonders, which you can find inThe Wastes of the Glittering Dunesbiome. Once there, you’ll need to gather these tools:
you’re able to pick up thePolished Mirrorfrom the ground on a narrow path near a giant lever. One of thePhotonic Leversis on your way to a puzzle grid inside the cave, and you’ll find the other one in the puzzle grid itself.

Once you have the aforementioned tools, make your way to EVE’s House in The Docks biome to find threePower Cables.
Deliver Tools to Jafar
After gathering all the required tools, hand them over to Jafar. The royal vizier will now tell you that he needs another extremely important tool, aDimensional Prism, to proceed further.
Jafar’s recipe for the Dimensional Prism requires these materials:
Once you have all the gems, you’re able to head to a nearby crafting station and make the Dimensional Prism.
Set Up Machinery in Jafar’s Laboratory
Next, you will need to go to Jafar’s Laboratory in his grand palace and hand over the items. He’ll then ask you to set up the machinery for the experiment. For that, connectEVE’s cablesto the machine’s sockets, place theDimensional Prismon the pedestal, and put the geometrically impaired objects inside his chamber.
Once everything’s set up, you will need topull the giant leversto start the machinery and collect the repaired 2D items from the chamber.
Place Stabilized Objects in Their Biomes
Finally, you will have to place theGeometrically Stabilized Cactusin The Plains biome, theGeometrically Stabilized Treein The Grasslands, and theGeometrically Stabilized Statuein The Docks. Once you’ve done that, talk to Jafar to finish the quest.
