Summary
Bungie releases update 8.0.5.4 forDestiny 2, finally addressing a number of Encore related bugs, adjusting class abilities, and making a highly requested change to the Fireteam Finder. As players have seen over these past 10 years, theDestinyfranchise is always evolving and changing through new updates, expansions, and other seasonal style content.Destiny 2continues that trend with players wrapping the final Act of Episode: Echoes, while also getting a chance to celebrate the franchise’s latest anniversary.
The exotic mission Encore has been a big part of Episode: Echoes, pushing players to run the mission multiple times in order to unlock secret chests, finding new specimens for Failsafe, as well as earning new features for the Choir of One auto rifle. In fact, Choir of One has already become a hugely popular weapon, giving players a way to fire off void bolts similar to the Vex Wyverns, capable of melting enemies very quickly. However,Destiny 2’s Encore mission launched with more than a few bugs, sometimes leaving fans unable to finish the activity or not even earning the weapon at all. Thankfully, Bungie has finally addressed these issues and more within the latestDestiny 2update.
Alongside theDestiny 2Weekly Reset, Update 8.0.5.4 was also applied to the game, addressing numerous issues and adjusting some gameplay elements. TheDestiny 2exotic mission Encorealso received plenty of attention in this update, with the activity finally being added as an selectable option toDestiny 2’s Fireteam Finder. Three bugs were also targeted, including one of the more frustrating issues that essentially makes the final boss immune to all damage, blocking all possible progression. Bungie also highlighted a fix for a possible team wipe by depositing a Connection Module too early during a specific part of the mission.
Outside of Encore, this week’s update made major changes to a handful of class abilities, specifically with the Hunter. The Threaded Specter, a dodge related Strand Aspect that creates a decoy for enemies to shoot at, has been adjusted so that the cooldown duration of Marksman Dodge and Gambler’s Dodge has been increased with this aspect equipped. The dodge cooldown penalty after a clone is created has also been removed, the amount of time the clone distracts enemies has been increased, and once it is destroyed, it no longer spawns Threadlings.
Alongside the Threaded Specter, Bungie adjusted the Snare Bomb, reducing its trap time from 10 seconds to 3.5, while also reducing the player movement speed penalty by 25%. Swarm Grenades have a longer cooldown and have been moved to a slower recharge tier for non-passive grenade-energy gains. Finally, Titan players had a bug fixed where therecently added Twilight Arsenal Supershould now be unlocked for both Prismatic and Void subclasses.
This week has been a big one in terms of new information asBungie confirmed the longterm plans forDestiny 2. A series of blogs from Bungie highlighted Codename Frontiers, which encompasses two medium-sized expansions, with the first being planned for launch in the Summer of 2025. In addition, there will be four major updates for all players, refreshing the game with new content and updates, while also bringing new Reward Passes.
