Summary
Bungie announces new content and major adjustments being made to the Crucible inDestiny 2once Episode: Revenant launches in October. There’s a sense of anticipation among many in theDestiny 2community as the current Episode is rapidly approaching its end. With the Echoes storyline having recently wrapped up, Bungie has continued to slowly peel back new details for Episode Revenant, which places the focus back on the Scorn and their leader, Fikrul the Fanatic.
While fans wait for the full list of changes in the patch notes, it appears that Bungie isn’t looking to rest on its laurels for Episode: Revenant. Already, the studio has revealed a number of big changes coming to the game, including no longer timegating the story and allowing allDestiny 2players to experience Episode Revenant at their own pace. In addition, Bungie is making big adjustments to subclass abilities, roaming supers, and turningTitans into the classic Tank role manyDestiny 2players envisionthem to be. However, this week revealed major adjustments coming to the game’s PvP mode as well.
In a bigblog post, Bungie revealed major changes coming to the Crucible side of the game. Specifically, Bungie is applying new balancing rules to the lobby, which Bungie is hoping leads to a more balanced team composition and preventing premade fireteams from potentially being split up. In the Episode Revenant update, Bungie is also making changes to certain weapons types, with Adaptiove Hand Cannons, Auto Rifles, and High-Impact Pulse Rifles seeing some nerfs as these weapons are consistently at the top end of the meta. Bungie is also buffing certain underperforming weapon types, from Adaptive Submachine Guns and Precision Hand Cannons, to High-Impact Auto Rifles to name a few. Special and Heavy weapons are also getting a very minor balancing pass as well, with High Impact Machine Guns, Heavy Ammo Grenade Launchers, and Trace Rifles seeing the biggest adjustments.
Destiny 2 Episode Revenant Adds New Content and Quality of Life Changes
Combined with the sandbox level changes, Bungie also revealed the return of Solitude to the map rotation, though not quite as players may remember it. The reprised version has seen some of its geometry and spawn locations tweaked to what Bungie hopes will be a better flow overall. Players will be seeing Solitude added to both ofDestiny 2’s Competitiveand 6v6 playlists, but it won’t be seen in Trials at first, as the studio waits for player feedback.
The other major quality of life tweak with Episode Revenant is with the user interface. Instead of displayingGuardian Ranks forDestiny 2players, they’ve been replaced by class icons to help clearly provide information during matches. New callouts are being added including an “Assisted By” message, and the player tombstone also displays a weapon icon to let others know what sort of gun got the finishing blow. The much maligned Mercy Rule is also being updated with ane xtended window which matches can mercy, which should prevent occurances where some games drag out once the window has been shut.
Alongside those changes, Bungie also revealed that one heavily requested change is finally being implemented. When Episode: Revenant launches,Destiny 2is limiting crouch spamming, essentially putting a cap on how many times a player can trigger it. The changes was met with tons of positivity from the community, which should eliminate rapid crouch spamming during gunfights, without completely eliminating the ability to perform the move tactically.
