The player shared screenshots of their “Kanto besties” collection, which they say they started in 2022, inspired by a Reddit post, having made over 50 trades to complete their project. They highlighted the shiny Machop as one of their most important acquisitions, as it came from a trade made with a friend who passed away a few years ago.

To help with their project, they also said that they walked between 6–8 miles every day, andused Pokemon GO Plus+. In the comments section, other players praised the OP’s achievement, highlighting especially the work they put into turning all their Kanto Pokemon into best buddies. They explained further that sometimes they’d get four buddies a day and max out two completely, which “wasn’t such a long road” once they figured out how to get their friends excited.
This isn’t the first time a player has shared a special Kanto Pokedex, although it is one of the most dedicated. Getting shiny Pokemon is something that Niantic often lends a helping hand to by increasing the odds on events. On the other hand, trades require time and luck toget a Lucky Pokemon, let alone all the critters from a single generation. Time and patience are also needed to reach the Best Buddy status, as it involves interacting with Pokemon long enough to get the 300 Hearts needed.
