Dead Rising Deluxe Remasterhas reintroduced the world to the zany, over-the-top zombie smash ‘em up. There are so many parts of this title that are hilarious, explosive, and unreasonably gory - with many feeling this isthe perfect revivalof the flounderingDead Risingseries.
But whileDead Risingmay be a game filledwith ridiculous weaponsand crazy plot twists, there are also some mundane and innocuous things to happen upon in the first game. Namely, simple food items that can restore health - not much to look at, but longtime fans of the series know they should take any chance to heal that they can get in these wacky, brutal games - and the latest remaster of the firstDead Risingis no exception.
5Orange Juice
The Power Of Vitamin C
Everyone’s favorite, delightfully low-poly fruit drink is making a comeback in the Willamette Parkview Mall. This full bottle of juice heals a very decent amount of Frank West’s life and can be found in various areas around the mall. Namely, the Colombian Roastmasters and the Kids’ Choice Clothing in Paradise Plaza, in infinite mode, as well as simply scattered around the mall. Finding this orange juice is great if players need to heal in a pinch, but there’s another especially important use for this item.
Orange juice is very good for mixed drinks, as it shares a viable combination with nearly every other food type when it comes to utilizing the blender for these special concoctions. This is one of those enduringDead Risingstaples that’s been aroundfor almost every title.
4Coffee Creamer
Milky Goodness Perfect For Blending
Coffee creamer is another item that is fantastic for blending, especially if players want a quick-step, though the randomizer (a sub-par mixed drink, all things considered) is also a fairly prevalent option among the potentially blended drinks. Coffee creamer can be found in Colby’s Movieland in infinite mode, and like a lot of food items, can be found in essentially infinite quantities in Seon’s Food and Stuff, provided they deal with the friendly manager.
Seon’s Food and Stuff holds one of the best boss fights in the game that helped put thefirstDead Risingtitleon the map, but it’s important to note that it - along with the endless supplies of coffee creamer goodness - is shut off to the player in infinite mode.
3Golden Brown Pizza
Few Things Beat This Cheesy Meal
This microwaved-to-perfection Golden Brown Pizza can be cooked by Frank if he has a frozen pizza, and is one of the few interactions players have with the microwaves inDead Rising Deluxe Remaster. There have been a lot oflarge-scale changesto this title from its humble beginnings as an Xbox 360 title, but one thing that is gratifying to see remain the same over time is that this pizza, once cooked, will remain perpetually steaming hot, and the updated graphics make it look genuinely appetizing.
In Infinity Mode, there is no way to get this well-cooked beauty, but there are plenty of frozen pizzas scattered around that can be cooked, so keep an eye out for them while trying to survive in the mall.
2Wine
Drink Responsibly
Wine inDead RIsing Deluxe Remasteris one of those rarer food items to stumble upon, but the food court in particular is a gold mine for finding the grape juice of the gods. There’s a lot of fascinating utility with wine, especially considering that it’s one of the better items in the game for baseline health restoration. Beyond this, throwing a wine bottle at a zombie will kill them, making it good for a last-ditch effort attack.
Players are also able to give Floyd Sanders some wine in a special request titled “Floyd the Sommelier” if they rescued him from Ned’s Nickknackery. Among some of the game’s more controversialchanges from the original title, scoops have had the bulk of their mechanics remain the same.
1Well Done Steak
Not Cooked To Everyone’s Liking, But Worth A Try
The Well Done Steak is an almost vital item for prolonged sessions in both the mainDead Rising Deluxe Remasterstoryline and the game’s new and revitalized infinite mode. Finding raw meat at the grocery store or around the meat processing area already heals for a surprising 3 blocks of health, but this item heals for more health than any non-mixed drink in the game at 6 blocks of health. Just make sure the item is properly a steak. If Larry Chiang offers the player any, it would be wise to say no.
This is one of those tricky-to-find items in infinite mode with the main source of raw meat - the grocery - being shut off, but players who pick this up as loot from fallen zombies will have a much easier time in this mode.
