Matchmaking is a massive part of Ironmace’s dungeon crawlerDark and Darker.If you are just getting startedand the game keeps matching you with pro players, it can be really frustrating for you. This is where the Gear Score comes in. It decides who a player will be matched with and how tough the game will be.
This matchmaking system makes sure a player is matched with enemies that are around their level. In this guide, we will explain everything you need to know about the Gear Score inDark and Darker.
How Does Dark and Darker Gear Score Work
Every item you have, includingall your weapons, armor, accessories, and other resources, has its own Gear Score inDark and Darker. The score depends on how rare an item is. All these scores add up to give you a total Gear Score, which players can see on their profiles.
Dark and Darker players are matched according to their total Gear Score. This score affects the type of enemies they will face in the game. So the better the items in your inventory, the higher your Gear Score will be. For example, players withEpic or Legendary weaponswill have a higher Gear Score than those with Poor or Common items.
With that out of the way, let’s look at the matchmaking brackets in the 2023 dungeon crawler:
Gamers with a Gear Score of0 to 24fall into the Low Gear Bracket category and will face beginner-level enemies. If your Gear Score is between25 and 124, you will be placed in the Moderate Gear Bracket, where the enemies are a bit stronger. Finally, players with a Gear Score ofmore than 125will be in the High Gear Bracket. Predictably then, they will be up against the toughest Dark and Darker enemies.
