The upcoming sequel to CD Projekt Red’s hugely successful futuristic RPG,Cyberpunk 2077, which is currently codenamed Project Orion, could feature more animals than its predecessor, according to a new job listing. While there are still animals and pets featured inCyberpunk 2077, the game’s urban environments and habitat destruction are why they are rare to come by and often only owned by the wealthy.
Cyberpunk 2077’s rocky launch on PlayStation 4and Xbox One led to mixed reviews when it first launched in 2020, but the RPG has come on leaps and bounds thanks to four years of post-launch updates and one massive expansion known as Phantom Liberty. While developer CD Projekt Red has multiple projects in the works, including various new games set withinThe Witcheruniverse, the studio is still committed to continuing theCyberpunk 2077IP with Project Orion. The sequel was first revealed back in 2022 and continues to be developed in CD Projekt Red’s new office based in Boston.
Project Orion Listing Hints at More Animals for Cyberpunk 2077 Sequel
While the listing makes no other mention of animals, the fact that CD Projekt Red felt the need to single out this qualification makes it pretty clear that Project Orion will likely include more of a focus on animals. This also isn’t the first time that fans have discovered more on Project Orion via a CD Projekt Red job listing, as the studio previously hinted at the inclusion ofmultiplayer for theCyberpunk 2077sequelwhen it advertised for a Lead Network Programmer.
Given the sheer scope of Project Orion, the sequel likely won’t be released for several years, especially considering CD Projekt Red has only just wound down support forCyberpunk 2077after four years. While fans shouldn’t expect any new content to be added to the game now that the studio is focusing on its sequel,Cyberpunk 2077did receive a substantial updateon September 12. The patch was only released on PC, but it did add AMD FSR3 support, something fans had been requesting for a long time.
