Summary
Concordservers will be going down for about one hour later today. While it has failed to attract a significant audience, there are still some that are playing PlayStation’s new live-service hero-shooter gameConcord. These individuals seem to enjoyConcord, and indeed, many who have actually played the game have said that it’s a quality FPS.
The unfortunate reality is that there are simply not enough people willing to pay $40 to playConcord, and so many didn’t even bother giving it a chance.Concord’s Steam player count has been abysmal, with it sitting at a mere 63 players at the time of this writing.Concordseems to be doing better on PS5, but it’s still believed to have only sold somewhere in the neighborhood of 25,000 copies. This has made it difficult forConcordplayers to get into certain playlists, as the game’s population started off incredibly small and has continued to shrink every day since launch.
Those that are still playingConcordshould note that the FPS will be going down for about one hour today.Concordservers are going down for maintenance at around 9am PT/11am CT/12pm ET,as announced by Firewalk Studios on the game’s official subreddit. The servers will be down for about one hour, with fans encouraged to finish theirConcordmatchesahead of time. Once the servers are back up,Concord’s Week 3 update will be applied. What exactly the Week 3 update entails has yet to be announced.
How Long Will the Concord Servers Be Down?
Strangely enough, this announcement was not shared by theConcordTwitter account, leading some fans to criticize Firewalk’s communication with the community. The silence surroundingConcord’s poor performancehas left many fans of the FPS frustrated, as there is concern that it will effectively become unplayable sooner rather than later due to a general lack of interest. It’s clear that something drastic needs to be done to saveConcord, or it may never be able to deliver its promised seasonal content.
The most obvious move would be to makeConcordfree-to-play, which would put it in-line with basically every other hero-shooter on the market. BlockingConcordbehind a $40 paywall was a huge mistake, and removing that barrier to entry could do wonders for the game’s player count. If Sony is unwilling to makeConcorda fully free-to-play game, perhaps giving it away as one of the free PS Plus games could help, though that wouldn’t address its super low player counts on Steam. Whatever happens,Concordupdates are continuing for now, and those that are still playing the game should keep in mind that the servers are going to be down for about an hour today.
