However,Magic: The Gathering’s ownerHasbro has recently been under fire for AI usagein Wizards of the Coast products, and fans are understandably concerned.
Chucky is the latest crossover withMagic: The Gatheringas part of a Secret Lair drop being added to the horror-themed set.Wizards of the Coast revealed theDuskmournexpansionback in August, and it takes inspiration from horror tropes dating back to the 1980s. Chucky’s Secret Lair set will take five originalMagiccards repurposed with Chucky references, including a double-faced card showcasing the doll as Kardur, Doomscourge. Tiffany, Bride of Chucky will also be receiving a card as Varragoth, Bloodsky Sire, and iconic moments from the slasher movies will also be included in the cards’ artwork.

Chucky is the main antagonist of theChild’s Playfranchise, and he becomes a killer “Good Guy” doll animated by a serial killer’s soul after a voodoo ritual is performed. Since its self-titled 1988 debut by director Tom Holland, theChild’s Playseries has accumulated six sequels, comic books, video games, and a television series centering around returning actor Brad Dourif’s possessed doll. Mark Hamill voiced Chucky in the 2019 movie reboot.Magic: The Gatheringisn’t the only crossover for the slasher doll this year, as Behaviour Interactive’s multiplayer survival horror gameDead by Daylightadded a Chucky skinrecently with a scorched new look, and Dourif returned to voice the character.
