Summary
Call of Duty: Warzonedeveloper Raven Software has angered fans after it released a controversial update on September 26, removing many of the core playlists from the game’s Battle Royale and Resurgence modes. The studio was vague about the reason for removing the playlists fromWarzone, but briefly mentioned that it was making preparations for the future of the game as the release ofBlack Ops 6draws closer.
The decision to remove many of the game’s modes has, expectedly, outraged players. But it’s not the first time the community has been disappointed with Activision’s popular Battle Royale title since the launch of its latest season on September 18. Shortly after the release of Season 6,Warzoneplayers noticed an annoying visibility changeregarding gun smoke. While the latest playlist update won’t affect the title from a gameplay standpoint, it has angered those who can no longer play with their desired number of teammates.
Call of Duty: Warzone’s playlists are updated weekly, every Thursday, to be exact, and September 26 was no different. However, fans were shocked to find that many of the title’s core game modes had been removed from rotation with the latest update. Over on Twitter, Raven Software explained the situation, saying that it was “[making] preparations for the future ofWarzone” due to the impending launch ofCall of Duty: Black Ops 6. As such, the only core playlists now available are Battle Royale solos and quads, and Resurgence duos and quads. Players can still jump into Plunder and the current limited-time game modes, but trio playlists are only available via Ranked Play.
Warzone Players Outraged by New Playlist Update
ThelatestWarzoneupdatemeans that players can no longer jump into Battle Royale duos and trios or Resurgence solos and trios. Although trios are still available in Ranked Play, there are a great number of casual players who simply don’t want to jump into a competitive mode just to play with their friends. In response to the change, fans are taking to social media sites such as Reddit and Twitter to blast the update, with users calling it “laughable” and others, such asazjohnca, stating that they are “done” withWarzone.
With the release ofCall of Duty: Black Ops 6set for October 25, it will be fully integrated withWarzonewith the launch of the game’s first season, which is expected to debut sometime in November or December. This means Season 6 ofModern Warfare 3will be the game’s last major content update. While servers will remain online,Warzonewill see some massive changes implemented asBlack Ops 6ushers in a new era ofCall of Duty. From a monumental new movement system to a brandnewWarzonemap known as Area 99,Black Ops 6will bring some big changes to the popular Battle Royale game.
While there’s plenty to prepare for, the community has been left baffled by Raven Software’s decision to remove many ofWarzone’s core playlists. Despite being one of the most popular free-to-play games in the world, Raven often has to balance playlists to ensure that the player base is spread across each mode fairly, as modes with fewer players could see some serious matchmaking issues. But how this relates toBlack Ops 6preparations remains a mystery.
