This article contains spoilers from Boruto: TBV Chapter 14.
Summary
Boruto: Two Blue Vortexchapter 14 has revealed some incredible information to the fans pertaining to the Shinju and it is safe to say that things are now getting more exciting by the second in this story. As fans know already, the Shinju are currently the primary antagonists of the series, and they pose a threat that has never been seen before in the Naruto franchise.
Boruto and others must stand united against this threat, and defeat every single one of them, saving the planet in the process. So far, the Shinju have only just gotten started, which means that things are going to get much more bleak for the shinobi kind because of them. Their attacks were only limited to Konoha up until now, but now, they’re re seeking targets from beyond Konoha as well, and, as it so happens, Sunagakure has now been targeted.
How The Shinju Attacked Sunagakure In Boruto
It appears that Sunagakure was recently targeted in the Boruto manga. Fans know that Hidari and Jura moved to Konoha, and their goal was to seek out Kurama. Essentially, Jura wanted to target Naruto Uzumaki, but he was surprised to see that all his leads took him to none other than Himawari. This was quite a surprise for him and he even tested Himawari’s powers. It is safe to say that Jura failed in his goal to capture the Nine Tails and defeating Himawari permanently. At the same time, fans also know that had it not been for Mamushi, Jura would have done terrific damage to Konoha, probably wiping out every single character there with ease.
Meanwhile, fans also know that Hidari accompanied him to Konoha. His target was Sarada and he certainly met her in combat. Once again, he managed to get the better of her. However, Boruto saved her, and eventually dealt with Hidari to the utmost best of his abilities. His Thorn Soul Bulb was carried back to the original hideout, where he was rebirthed.
While Jura and Hidari did this, it appears that Matsuri had different goals set out for her. From the looks of it, Matsuri went to Sunagakure and attacked them. The targets right now are known to have been Gaara, and with him, Shinki. It is evident from Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter 14 that Gaara ended up being defeated, and he is likely injured. At the same time, Shinki ended up losing the battle, and he was the one being turned into a God Tree, which essentially confirms the idea that the new Shinju is based on him.
Gaara And Shinki’s Fall In The Sunagakure Battle
Gaara Was Defeated By The Shinju Recently In Boruto
In Sunagakure, an incredibly high-level battle likelytook place between Matsuri and Gaara. Given that Gaara is string, he likely held out. But, eventually, he was defeated. Given that Shinki is Gaara’s very own son, he likely wanted to aid his father, and at the same time, protect his village. He likely joined in on this battle as well.
Unfortunately, Shinki ended up losing as well, and he is the target that Matsuri ended up choosing for birthing a new Thorn Soul Bulb. As to how all this happened, fans do not know because they did not get to see all that in the chapter. All these events happened off-screen, and fans would have absolutely loved for them to be incorporated into the story. This is one of the major shortcomings of the Boruto series. Fans don’t actually get to see events other than Konoha, or characters other than those of Konoha leading the story somewhere.
In the Naruto Shippuden series, fans clearly got to see Akatsuki when they invaded Sunagakure, and how they managed to defeat Gaara. Something similar could have been done here with Matsuri. However, it was unfortunate for the fans to see that a completely different approach was taken by the author here, and all of this happened off-screen.
That said, Kankuro connected with Shikamaru and informed him about the latest situation at hand about how Gaara and Shinki were both defeated. Regardless, what fans know now is that a new Shinju is on the rise. This means that the other Shinju will now try to spread out even more and target other powerful individuals to birth more powerful Shinju. Clearly, they are only just getting started, and what’s even worse is that the newly-born Shinju haven’t even hit their full potential. They are merely a few days old, and they will continue to grow in terms of power with each passing chapter and grow as they learn how to fight even more.
A New Shinju Named Ryu Emerges
Shinki’s Shinju Named Ryu Might Be One Of The Strongest
As far as the new Shinju goes,Boruto: Two Blue Vortexchapter 14 confirmed it to be Ryu. This Shinju was first teased in the previous chapter of the manga, and the latest chapter of TBV revealed to the fans that the name was Ryu, which literally translates to grain or particle. Given the little translation of this figure, it wasn’t hard for the fans to put two and two together and figure out that this was someone from Sunagakure. Based on the design itself, fans know that this characterwas none other than Shinki, and this essentially means that the new Shinju could have powers related to Magnet Release, along with the powers of the Ten Tails, and of course, the Rinnegan.
Things are going to get even more exciting from here onwards, and the Shinju are to cause a ruckus for sure. Fans know for a fact that these powerful monsters are going to become a deadly force that could bring about the end of the world, asconfirmed by Kashin Koji, and that they cannot be defeated easily, no matter what. Now, everything rests on the shoulders of Boruto Uzumaki and his allies, and they must put aside their differences and band together if they are to beat these powerful monsters.
For now, this doesn’t appear to be something they can accomplish. Boruto might be strong enough to take on one of the Shinju, but he is still far from Jura’s level. If anything, Jura might be even stronger than Isshiki. It was confirmed in Boruto: TBV chapter 14 that Jura is unlike any other Shinju. He is not based on anyone, but is the pure incarnation of the Ten Tails itself. Furthermore, Jura, just like the other Shinju, is continuously growing. He has not even exerted half of its power in the story, and yet, he was able to do collateral damage. Jura considers his restrained powers to be enough to kill Boruto, and that statement speaks for itself. As to what he’s capable of doing at his full power, only time can tell.
Boruto is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and theManga Plusapp. The release date for the next chapter of Boruto, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter 15, is set to be June 14, 2025.
