Further, since they are classified as Chiefs, technically third-string enemies, there are a fair number of them across the game’s campaign.
Fortunately for players, none of them are really missable if they’re taking the time to explore the game.Black Myth: Wukong’s Yaoguai Chiefs also offer great rewards. Some of them even provide gamers with the best Spirits to use in combat, which is nothing to scoff at. Given their standing in the game’s lore and the rewards, they can naturally be difficult to defeat. With that said, here’s a list of the hardest Yaoguai Chiefs mini-boss fights inBlack Myth: Wukong.
TheWandering Wight is the first Yaoguai Chief mini-boss inBlack Myth: Wukongthat players come across. It looks and behaves like a giant baby, especially when dealt a fair bit of damage. This mini-boss has a couple of sweep attacks, along with one where it leaps and smashes the ground. The most devastating, however, is the one where it causes AoE pulse damage from the ground and then throws a severe light beam at players.
The most important point that makes this Yaoguai Chief mini-boss fight difficult is that it’s at the very start of the journey. Ergo, players have almost nothing. Fortunately, this is resolved if theystart a New Game+ journey inBlack Myth: Wukong.
The Tiger’s Acolyte is a quick and challenging boss that players face on a narrow bridge. Being a Yaoguai Chief mini-boss inBlack Myth: Wukong, it doesn’t have a lot of health or a very damaging moveset. However, it leaps from a great distance if players somehow get away.
The slashing attacks come in pretty quickly and can be a bit difficult to judge in the first run. Aside from that, the narrow bridge limits movement, so players have to depend on dodging and proper use of spells. Using Cloud Step, one of thebest defensive spells inBlack Myth: Wukongis really beneficial here.
The Mad Tiger Yaoguai Chief mini-boss fight inBlack Myth: Wukongis one of the hardest in the game. The third tiger in the game, players can reach it after completing theOld Battle Drum quest early in Chapter 2. The arena and the opening cinematic are definitely more terrifying than the Tiger Vanguard’s, which also reflects this boss’ wild nature.
This Yaoguai Chief mini-boss doesn’t have a vast moveset, but it hits hard. The leaps and punches come in multiples, and so do the AoE attacks. When he gets enraged and screams, boulders also fall from the cave’s ceiling. This adds to the things players have to be mindful about.
Non-White, even though just a Yaoguai Chief and not amajor boss inBlack Myth: Wukong, comes with a shield bar that players must crack before truly dealing damage. He can be hurt without completely running it out, but the damage dealt is much less. There are also “2.5 phases” to this fight. Fortunately, there’s no real trouble.
In the first phase of this fight, Non-White has an ice staff and deals slash attacks. At 60-70% health bar, he teleports to another location with full health. There, he again starts off with Freeze-giving slash attacks, before changing to dual-wielding Poison-inducing blades. He also mixes teleportation into his attacks, so that’s something to watch out for.
Non-Void doesn’t present a very difficult boss fight, but it’s certainly interesting. Players encounter this Yaoguai Chief mini-boss after completing theSnow Fox quest inBlack Myth: WukongChapter 3. The old monk uses a bit of light magic and martial arts to deal damage. Fortunately, none of the moves are too damaging.
Non-Void sends of light-based homing projectiles that players need to dodge. Aside from that, during one or two key moments, he also creates a storm of the prayer pages lying around in the temple, heavily obscuring vision. A key point to note here is that this Yaoguai Chief mini-boss also uses a Cloud Step-type move, becoming “mist” and easily passing through attacks. It also, from time to time, teleports away from players.
The Monk from the Sea offers a challenging Yaoguai Chief mini-boss fight, especially satisfying since it gives one of thebest Transformations inBlack Myth: Wukong- Hoarfrost. While that is certainly good, the boss also uses it against players in the first: getting frozen and getting the ailment makes them much more vulnerable to attacks.
Aside from freezing, theMonk from the Sea is a pretty agile bossand leaps from one place to another. One tentacle move is sweeping the floor from two sides, which has quite a wide reach. The monk also hits straight with tentacles from his abdomen. This can be very quick to dodge successfully every time.
The Rusty-Gold Cart is one of the bosses inBlack Myth: WukongChapter 5 where players are better off using Fireproof Mantle, the first Vessel obtained in the game. This Yaoguai Chief mini-boss is also part of the secret area, with theBishui Golden-Eyed Beastas the final enemy. It naturally doesn’t hit as hard as the latter, but it’s no slouch either.
Rusty-Gold Cart has a few smash attacks that deal a lot of damage, along with adding Burn status ailment. It also spits fire from its mouth in a wide circle. Things may not be as simple if players choose to attack it from behind - its entire body spits flames. It also throws fireballs from time to time, although they’re much easier to dodge.
This is one of the few double-boss fights inBlack Myth: Wukong. Marked together as the Yaoguai Chief mini-boss, the brothers offer a fair bit of challenge. The shields that they hold are quite tough, and players should rather move around instead of going through the protection. This can be a bit tricky, but skipping this will prolong the fight by a great deal. The Weaver’s Needle Vessel can be very helpful here.
One of the strongest moves is when the two join and become a spiked ball, dashing at players. There are a few ground slam attacks that deal a lot of damage. The brothers also have slash attacks with their swords, as well as half-shield smash attacks. Players should dodge all these or equip the Fireproof Mantle to ward off Burn status ailment.
Cloudtreading Deer is one Yaoguai Chief boss fightinBlack Myth: Wukongwhere the Wind Tamer Vessel can be handy. The Damage Reduction it grants is great, but the negating wind attacks feature is very helpful in the first phase. As fans may know, the Cloudtreading Deer has two phases with full health bars. The fight itself isn’t too difficult, but it can certainly get tricky with dodges.
Cloudtreading Deer’s first phase has multiple tornadoes. Aside from that, the Yaoguai Chief has other wind-based attacks as well. There’s a wide AoE circle attack that afflicts Freeze ailment. In the second phase, things get bloody. ThisBlack Myth: Wukongmini-boss throws blood balls as well. There are also attacks that spread blood on the ground, dealing immense Poison damage.
Gold Armored Rhino is a Yaoguai Chief mini-boss fight inBlack Myth: Wukongthat players will need to pay some attention to. It is quite tanky and has ram and smash attacks in its moveset. The key thing to note here is that they need to reposition themselves and focus on breaking their horns first. If they don’t, the damage they deal will be really minuscule, stretching out the fight quite a bit.
Players should also note that this Yaoguai Chief mini-boss has a couple of AoE lightning moves as well, especially when its horn is regenerated again. Aside from the horn trick, the Gold Armored Rhino is like any fast-paced standard mini-boss fight inBlack Myth: Wukong.
