Summary

The Thrust Stance inBlack Myth: Wukongis an incredibly versatile fighting option. WhereasSmash Stance has a lot of mobilityand power and Pillar Stance has a lot of reach and stability, the Thrust Stance is a bit of both.

This Stance has ways to counter just like the Smash Stance does and it also has ways of attacking from an absurd range just like the Pillar Stance. But, by far its most unique ability is the Whirling Thrust which, with the right approach and build, can absolutely melt any enemy or boss in sight. So, with that in mind, let’s take a look at some of the best bosses to use this Stance against inBlack Myth: Wukong.

Black Myth Wukong - Fuban-1

Fright Cliff

Yaoguai King

Heart of Stone Material, 1x Yaoguai Core, 1x Mind Core, & Skandha of Feeling Key Item

Black Myth Wukong - Yellowbrow-1

Readers will very quickly notice a pattern with our recommendations for which bosses to use this Stance against, and that pattern is bosses that have big windows for attacks. Any boss that has a large or even semi-large window in which a player could go in with a Whirling Thrust has the potential to positively crumble in the face of Thrust Stance, and both the Stone Vanguard andthe Shigandang from Chapter 2are great examples of this.

Both bosses are incredibly big, incredibly tanky enemies who deal a ton of damage when they connect, but have a lot of downtime in between attacks as a result. Additionally, while they have a lot of AoE on their attacks, they can still be kept at a distance with Thrust stance relatively well as long as the Destined One uses the range of a 2 or more Focus Point Heavy Attack to do so.

Black Myth Wukong - Red Boy-1

Wind Tamer Vessel & Sky-Piercing Horn Material

Fuban is another fightthat seems very imposing at first, but on closer inspection, it actually has a lot of windows to take advantage of with both Whirling Thurst as well as a well-time Forceful Thrust here and there. This gigantic bug with a Buddha head on it’s back hits hard and is very tanky, but when it falls over and in-between attacks it has a lot of windows for the Destined One to just whirl away it’s health bar.

Once the Yellow Wind Sage joins the battle especially there are some absurdly long windows where players can basically drain their entire Health Bar whirling on Fuban while it lays in the hot sun.

Black Myth Wukong - Gold Armored Rhino

New Thunderclap Temple

Cosmo Radiance Material, 2x Fine Gold Thread, 3x Cold Iron Leaves, 2x Refined Iron Sand, 1x Gold Tree Core, & 1x Mind Core

Yellowbrow is the first example on here where the Heavy Charged Attacks in Thrust Stance and Forceful Thrust are better options than Whirling Thrust, though that doesn’t mean the standard ‘whirl to win’ strategy doesn’t also work on him (because it does).

Black Myth Wukong - Five Element Cart

But in the last phase of the fight in particular where Yellowbrow turns entirely gold and needs a good poke from a Heavy Attack in order to get knocked out of it, Forceful Thrust is a quick and easy option that can then be immediately combo’d into Whirling Thrust if players have put enough Sparks into the Thrust Stance tree.

Field of Fire

The Plantain Fan Vessel, 1x Celestial Ribbon, 1x Fine Gold Thread, 2x Gold Tree Cores, 1x Kun Steel, & 1x Mind Core

Red Boy, foras hard of a boss battle as this is, is another one where just keeping a bit of distance puts this encounter in an entirely new light. As it turns out, Red Boy (and the Yaksha King part of the fight) don’t track to the Destined One nearly as closely as a lot of other bosses' attack patterns do, making it easy to stay a bit far back and use Tactical Retreat and Forceful Thrust to get some safe damage in.

Black Myth Wukong - Mother of Stones

Of course, this isn’t the case with all of Red Boy’s attacks, especially his AoE spike attacks and his Samahdi Fire attacks, but as long as the Destined One approaches this fight very cautiously, it should work well. That said, this is the first fight on here where we absolutely wouldn’t recommend relying on Whirling Thrust very much at all, there just aren’t any long windows during this fight to do so. Thankfully, the reward is well worth the effort,as the Plantain Fan aloneis a huge buff for the Destined One.

Foothills

Yaoguai Chief

Gold Suozi Armor, 1x Fine Gold Thread, 1x Mind Core, & Cold Iron Leaves

The Gold Armored Rhino in Chapter 6 is a fight almost entirely designed around punishing the player for attempting to hit the boss with anything but a Heavy Attack. Additionally, the attacks the Gold Armored Rhino can use are all pretty short-range, which is exactly why the Thrust Stance is perfect against this creature.

Players can hit the Rhino on it’s side to build Focus, and as soon as they get a single Focus Point they can just move to the front of the rhino and use Tactical Retreat into Forceful Thrust to break it’s horn before going right into Whirling Thrust to take advantage of its now vulnerable state. Of course similar strategies can be done with the other two Stances, but in our opinion Thrust Stance seems to work the best overall.

Yaoguai Chiefs

1x Gold Tree Core & 1x Refined Iron Sand

Probably a boss that not many people who played Wukong think all too much about afterward, and certainlynot a boss many would expectto use Thrust Stance with, but it’s actually perfect. The key gimmick with these two giant heads is the fact that the Destined One can hit them into each other.

And, when someone wants to hit a ball into another ball, do they hit it from overhead or do they stab at it? Obviously they stab at it, like in pool, and that’s exactly what the Destined One can easily do with Thrust Stance. Not only that, but once either of these heads gets all tuckered out or hit into each other, they sit there for a pretty long time, completely vulnerable to being attacked. This is where the Destined One can use Whirling Thrust to just absolutely demolish their health bars in no time flat.

Flame Orb Curio, 1x Fine Gold Thread, 1x Mind Core, & 2x Cold Iron Leaves

The living carts that players will come across in multiple areas of Chapter 5 aren’t exactly difficult bosses. They only have a couple of moves and the fight against them is more a test of patience than it is a test of skill or anything else.

However, except for maybe the Crimson-Silver Cart, they all stay pretty stationary, making them yet another easy target for the Thrust Stance’s Whirling Thrust attack. With the right build, for example, our Spellbinder build thatwent for as much DPS as possible, just a few seconds of Whirling Thrust on one of these carts is enough to take them out for good.

1x Stone Essence, 2x Yarn, & 2x Silk

And last up is the Mother of Stones, a boss very similar to the Shigandang or Stone Vanguard in the way that it doesn’t move much (it doesn’t move at all, really). The most difficult part of this boss fight is dealing with the other stone guai that spawn to protect the Mother of Stones, preventing the Destined One from taking her out too quickly.

However, with Thrust Stance, the Destined One can actually poke at the Mother of Stones while also avoiding the rock guai o r even full commit to a long Whirling Thrust, forcing themselves and the rock guai into a DPS race to see who will die first between the Destined One and the Mother of Stones. As far as strategies go this is by far the most simplistic recommendation, as the Mother of Stones essentially has no way of attacking or counterattacking in the first place.
