In the world ofBlack Clover, Secre Swallowtail, otherwise known as Nero is a member of the Magic Knights group known as the Black Bulls, a group of mages who serve as protectors of the country.
Even though Secre was born as a noble person, she was not treated with much importance and instead became a servant to Prince Lemiel Silvamillion Clover, the first Wizard King at the time. Secre, however, did possess a unique magical ability known as Sealing Magic, this gave her the ability to seal or unseal objects and magic. She is initially seen as a bird in the series.

Secre is one of the most underrated characters in Black Clover, the reason why she is initially seen as a bird is because, five hundred years ago before the events of the main story, she wasPrince Lemiel’s servant and workedwith him to create various magical objects. However, when a high-level devil attacked Clover Kingdom, Lemiel sacrificed himself to save the kingdom and Secre had to use a powerful amount of magic to seal his body into a statue, the magic was so powerful that it turned Secre into an anti-magic bird. In her bird form, Secre (also known as Nero) eventuallyends up meeting Astaand perches on his head through most of his journey as a silent but guiding companion.

During the series, Secre still remains in bird form, supporting Asta from the shadows. During the Elf Reincartion Arc, Secre sees the opportunity to fight the devil from her past with her awakened master, Prince Lemiel and she transforms into her human form, revealing her true form to Asta and the Black Bull squad. This scene is one of the pivotal scenes when it comes to the character development of Secre as she is not just a bird anymore, but a human.The admiration she has towards Astais also evident during his battle with the devil and she realizes that his anti-magic abilities is the key to saving the world. She also possesses her own personality in human form and is seen to have a sarcastic or blank characteristic most of the time.
How Strong Is Secre, And What Magic Does She Use?

Secre is eventually accepted into the Black Bulls and becomes an important member of the squad. Her ability to use her Sealing Magic to both seal and unseal anything such as magical objects or even magical power is a powerful form of magic. Her Sealing Magic is what she used to seal Lemiel into a statute, this form of magic is forbidden andrequires an immense amount of magic, resulting in her turning into a bird as a curse. Secre is also able to use her Sealing Magic in battle, trapping objects or spells at will. She is also able to use Healing Magic by healing others and covering their injuries using magic for recovery, this is seen during her fight against the powerful devil as she heals Prince Lemiel and Asta in between attacks.
Even though she does not appear to look strong, Secre is able to use her deep knowledge of magic and history to strategize during battles. She is able to seal people into objects and is also able to turn herself into a bird at will. In terms of her ranking, Secre is ranked as a Stage 6 Mage, but because of her ability to use forbidden magic, she is alsoranked as an Arcane Stage Magewhich is effective when it comes to fighting devils. Secre’s other abilities, she is able to sense the location of magic items using her mana. She also possesses a three-leaf grimoire that contains a variety of sealing-based spells.
