Summary
Smite 2made a lot of changes to the game’s existing formula, but some of these changes have been more impactful than the rest. The originalSmitehad an intricate system of items, beads, and relics. Meanwhile,Smite 2has opted to streamline this whole process to make things a lot easier — and when coupled with the new Strength and Intelligence stats,Gods can now work in many more roles.
Players moving over toSmite 2will be able to learn all of these new features thanks to returning gods they may be familiar with. It’s a perfect way for both returning andnew players starting theirSmite 2journeyto get into the game.
5Flexible Gods
Streamlining Everything
The originalSmitehad many different archetypes for its Gods, including Assassins, Guardians, Hunters, Mages, and Warriors. This made gods play in a very rigid way, and usually meant that playing a god meant having to commit to a specific playstyle — orhaving to play in a specific Lane.Smite 2has implemented a system that revolves around two stats,Strength and Intelligence. This has made the Gods ofSmite 2much more flexible.
A player who loves playing Mordred can select the character knowing they havemany options of how to build him, even if the role the player was planning on selecting gets called. Of all the changes to the original game, this may be the most impactful, and will have many fans happily migrating over toSmite 2.
4Reworked Jungling
Level Up Camps For Bigger Buffs
Junglingis a core element of the MOBA experience. Players who fill the Jungle role get the bulk of their gold and experience in the land between Lanes. However, they will also be getting buffs from the numerous jungle camps. As players clear these camps, they will start to level up and provide buffs for players. The originalSmitefeatured numerous buffs, but things have been shaken up so that the buffs available are tailored to best suitSmite 2.
The Jungle role can use these buffs for both them and their allies to push the advantage in a particular Lane. This can make the Jungle roleone of the harder roles for players to master. These buffs are capable of increasing Strength & Intelligence, increasing movement speed, poisoning enemies, providing bonus protection, and summoning minions.
3Relic Rework
Extra Oomph To A God’s Kit
Each God has a unique kit tailored to them, making them stand out and become a favored choice when compared to the other gods. As they level up, they will be built up with items from the store to become more potent forthe role they are playing. However, putting a Relic on a God will bind its use to their hotbar along with their other abilities. Relics serve as a way of giving any god a little more oomph to how they play.
For example, if a player plans on using Mordred in the Jungle Role, Sundering Arc will be perfect for taking their Jungle game to the next level. On the other hand, Aegis of Acceleration can be a more aggressive choice when a standoff comes down to the next hit. The originalSmitehad two Relics that were chosen at start and level 10, butSmite 2uses an Active Item approach to replace the second Relic. Active Items further make Gods more flexible and can make matches feel very different from one another.
2Ascension Passes
Even More Rewards
Players love getting free stuff, but sometimes they will need to put in some elbow grease for these rewards. As players play a God, they will earn Mastery for that God. This in turn will lead to them earning some cosmetic rewards to showcase how much time and skill they have accrued with said God.
Ascension Passes will increase the rewards gained through this process.Different editions of the gamewill come with a different number of Ascension Passes, so it is worth looking into for players that love to show off their skills with cosmetic rewards. Players will not be able to play the role they want every single game, so having an array of Gods will mean more cosmetics to show off.
1Changes To Gods
Making Gods Fit Into Smite 2
Since there is a high degree of change thanks to all the listed features above, some Gods would not feel right inSmite 2if they stayed the way they are in the original. That is why it makes sense to change a few things about them to keep the game fun and balanced. This is a bit of a double-edged sword. Changing a beloved character too much can lose what makes them so wel-liked among fans.
Luckily, even though so much has changed, most Gods manage to feel almost exactly the same as they did in the originalSmitewhile they are being played. This can help players that are migrating over toSmite 2keep playing the way they enjoy, while becoming familiar with all the new mechanics and features offered by this sequel.
