Summary
Starfield: Shattered Spacewill introduce more than 50 new locations, Bethesda said. This tidbit was shared as part of a wider overview of the upcomingStarfieldexpansion, which teased just how massive this content drop is going to be.
Bethesda hascommitted to a September 30 release date forStarfield: Shattered Spaceduring Gamescom Opening Night Live in late August 2024. Since then, the studio has been teasing the expansion by consistently sharing new details about it on social media.
Starfield: Shattered Space Sounds Absolutely Massive
In yet another example of one such move, Bethesda took to Twitter on September 6 to share a brief content outline ofStarfield’s first expansion. The developer hence revealed thatShattered Spacewill feature over 50 new locations, in addition to name-dropping two more enemy types that the DLC will introduce: Redeemed and Vortex Horrors. The tweet also saw Bethesda mention thatShattered Spacewill debut new grenades that will be craftable from “gross” organic materials, without elaborating on the matter.
The upcoming DLC will also expand onStarfield’s Crimson Fleet, Spacers, and Va’ruun Zealots, as per the same source, which reveals that these three factions will all be featured in some new content that players will be able to discover during planetary exploration segments. While the wording of that statement implies Bethesda was referring to randomly generated points of interest, the studio hasn’t outright confirmed that.
Either way, it seems likely that a big chunk of the DLC content will be Zealot-focused, as Bethesda itself has repeatedly confirmed thatShattered Spacewill expand on House Va’ruun. While the specifics of how it plans to do so are unclear, the developer’s previously shared footage from the expansion has suggested that players may get a chance to visit House Va’ruun’s home world over the course of theShattered Spacestoryline.
Shattered Spacecan currently be pre-ordered for $29.99.Starfieldplayers who bought the Digital Premium Edition of the game have already obtained access to the expansion as part of their purchase. And while Bethesda’s recent teasers have suggested that the DLC will be fairly massive, the studio has yet to say anything about how long the expansion might take to beat. In the meantime, what’s clear already is thatShattered Spacewon’t be the game’s only expansion, not least because Bethesda has previously stated that it wants to keep supportingStarfieldfor much longer than its previously released single-player RPGs.
