Bethesda Wants Starfield’s Success to Be as Long-Lived as Skyrim’s

We do plan to support our games for a long time. So we always have ideas going around in various levels of completeness, but we’re always working on something.

Starfield’s new REV-8, for instance, was added to the game during last month’s update. The vehicle quickly became a fan favorite feature, as it allowed gamers to traverse huge open areas at high speed, greatly enhancingStarfield’s exploration.

The game’s first expansion,Shattered Space, will be released on September 30 and will feature tons of new content that may motivate players to return toStarfielda year after its launch. It was also recently leaked thatStarfieldcould have a second expansion already planned, as Zenimax recently trademarked the name “Starborn.” While the filing was not directly linked toStarfield, this could likely be the name of the game’s next addition.

While Lamb did not cite it directly, another aspect that could improveStarfield’s longevity is its modding community.Skyrimstill boasts a thriving modding scene, and whileStarfielddid not come with official mod support at first, recent updates remedied this, and the community currently has manyoptions for excellentStarfieldmods. In any case, only time will tell whetherStarfieldwill remain as popular with its core fanbase a few years from now.
