A Space Marine needs to enter combat armed with the best gear possible if they are to survive the Tyranid horrors that await them inWarhammer 40,000:Space Marine 2. As players create the perfect loadout inSpace Marine 2, they are going to see that there are only 3 secondary weapons available to choose from, andperhaps there are more on the way. Each of them offers distinct ways to fight that might be an advantage to different players depending on their playstyle and their class.
The best secondary weapon inSpace Marine 2will excel at being effective at any range, and allow players to pull off some devastating and cool shots against Chaos and Tyranids alike. Whilst ammo might be scarce for secondary weapons, this arsenal of standard-issue weapons provides decent precision and firepowerfor every Ultramarine.

For those who prefer a more precise weapon, theHeavy Bolt Pistolis for them. It has a decent range for a weapon wielded in just one hand, as well as a fast reload speed for a weapon that fires decently slow. The Heavy Bolt Pistolhas a nice kick to it, and the small Tyranids that seek to charge and leap at Ultramarines will see themselves pushed back by the force of each bullet from the Heavy Bolt Pistol.
The only real thing that pulls the Heavy Bolt Pistol back is the magazine capacity and ammo reserves since players are going to need to reload every 8 shots, and they have only 80 bullets, which is a whopping 40 less than the standard Bolt Pistol. It’s great for chipping away at enemies during melee combat, but it’s not going to replace the primary weapon anytime soon.

The most standard and average secondary weapon inSpace Marine 2is theBolt Pistol, but that’s not an insult to this impressive and iconic weapon that deserves the respect of Ultramarines alike. The Bolt Pistol has an impressive ammo reserve, with 120 bullets waiting to be expunged to cure the galaxy of tyranny and horror from theworst of the heretical Chaos Chapterand the Tyranid hordes.
The wide ammo count means that players can unleash a variety of death, especially since it’ll be a decent backup for when a melee weapon isn’t acceptable and the primary weapon is out of operation. The Bolt Pistol doesn’t have the best firepower, but a decent rate of fire, reload speed, and ammo count means that players can keep their enemies at bay without needing a weapon to one-shot enemies.

ThePlasma Pistolis a more risky choice due to its limited ammo capacity and peculiar use compared to the other Bolt Pistols, but it’s still devastating in the right hands. The Plasma Pistol can be charged to unleash 10 shots in one, which, depending on the difficulty, can instantlyeradicate some harsher enemieson the battlefield. There’s also a greater area of effect when charging the Plasma Pistol, which can see players become more effective in combat when hordes are on the loose.
The Plasma Pistol suffers from having limited ammunition, and the venting speed means that players can’t just repeatedly fire it over and over without a cooldown. The range is decent, the damage is great, and the rapid fire means that smaller and squishy enemies will be easily eradicated and melted with the potential of the Plasma Pistol at work.
