His unique ability to mark enemies with a specific debuff, Prey, increases the damage taken by enemies from follow-up attacks, further enhancing the team’s overall DPS output.
While Moze can be used as a hypercarry, his optimal role lies in supporting other FUA-oriented characters as a sub-DPS inHonkai: Star Rail. His main strength is in follow-up attack-based teams, where he excels in amplifying team damage through his debuff mechanic. Despite his somewhat limited versatility, Moze fits seamlessly into several different team compositions depending on the availability of other FUA-based characters in a player’s roster. Below are some team options based on character availability and synergy.
Premium Team: Moze + Feixiao + Robin + Aventurine
The most premium team composition for Moze revolves around Feixiao, as they have exceptional synergy due to their reliance on allies attacking a specific enemy to trigger their respective kit’s stack mechanics. Moze requires enemies marked with Prey to be attacked multiple times to launch his follow-up, which aligns perfectly with Feixiao’s need to stack for her Ultimate. This makes them a powerful duo when played correctly, as they can frequently activate their abilities and unleash devastating follow-up attacks.
To enhance this synergy further, Robin is an ideal teammate, as she can effectively buff allies, especially enhancing follow-up attack damage, and advance them forward, enabling more frequent attacks in the same turn. For sustain,Aventurine stands out as the best option, offering not only reliable shielding but alsofollow-up attacks, which, in turn, enable Moze and Feixiao to trigger even more follow-ups.
However, given that this team composition involves 5-star limited characters like Feixiao, Robin, and Aventurine, it may be difficult for some players to assemble the full lineup - despite Feixiao and Robin running during the same banner duration. Fortunately, however, there are some options. For example, for those who lack Aventurine, Gallagher can a viable alternative for sustain. He attacks more frequently than most sustain options, which keeps the team’s FUA cycle going strong, even if he doesn’t offer quite the same follow-up attack synergies as Aventurine.
Aggro Control Follow Up Team: Moze + Yunli + Tingyun + Lynx
Moze also has unique synergy with characters like Yunli orClara, who rely on being attacked by enemiesto trigger their follow-up attacks. Moze’s ability to essentially disappear from the battlefield shifts the aggro away from him, increasing the likelihood of characters like Yunli to counterattack more frequently. This creates a strong dynamic where Yunli can unleash her follow-up attacks more often, leveraging Moze’s strategic absence to her advantage.
Compared to the Feixiao-based team, this composition requires fewer premium characters for effective synergy. For example, alongside Yunli (or Clara), characters like Tingyun and Lynx offer strong complementary roles. Tingyun provides significant buffs to Yunli, especially bygenerating energyfor her, which is critical for enabling Yunli’s Ultimate as frequently as possible. Lynx, on the other hand, serves as an ideal sustain option by increasing Yunli’s chances of getting hit, further enabling her counterattacks. This team shines in content like Memory of Chaos (MoC), where single-target attacks are more prominent than full AoE situations.
For players focusing more on Yunli’s Ultimate rather than her follow-up attacks while still maintaining Moze’s synergy,Huohuo is a viable alternative. As a strong energy generator, Huohuo can provide energy for the entire team, allowing Yunli to unleash her Ultimate more frequently. This offers a balance between maximizing Yunli’s overall damage output and keeping Moze as a key follow-up character.
F2P Friendly Team: Moze + Dr. Ratio + Hunt March 7th + Gallagher
Dr. Ratio is one of the few 5-star characters players can obtain entirely for free, and his synergy with follow-up attack teams makes Moze a great option for a composition that doesn’t rely on any limited 5-star characters. Moze’s primary benefit for Dr. Ratio comes from his ability to apply two debuffs through his Prey application and one of his traces, even without requiring any Eidolons. This provides solid support for Dr. Ratio, enhancing his overall damage potential.
March 7th can also synergize well with this team from Eidolon 2 (E2) onwards, offering follow-up attacks while simultaneously buffing Dr. Ratio with shields. For the final slot, Gallagher is a strong sustain option as he can apply debuffs, which are useful for Dr. Ratio. Additionally, his tendency to attack more frequently than most sustain characters can help build stacks for Moze, optimizing the team’s overall performance.
For those looking to replace March 7th, Jiaoqiu is another solid choice. He can further amplify debuffs on enemies, enhancing Dr. Ratio’s ability to deal damage and adding more synergy to the team, especially in a debuff-oriented follow-up attack composition.
