God of War Ragnarokcontinues the adventure of Kratos and Atreus, but as the latter grows into godhood, it’s time for him to seek his own independence and thus find his place in the Nine Realms. In some missions forGod of War Ragnarok, players will step into the shoes of Atreus with no Kratos to aid them, so if they want to maximize the strongest Atreus build, then there are a few useful things to note to replicate success.
Atreus isn’t the strongest, and his focus is going to be primarily on stunning to provide a decent damage output. Listed below are just a couple of builds that mighthelp players have more funwhen playing as Atreus to make sure that they get through each of his missions with ease.
Armor is purely cosmetic, so it remains completely unimportant for Atreus builds.
2Stun Everything in Sight
Focus on Stun to Activate Finishers
For this build, players are going to want to make sure that their bow and arrow is the main focus of their attack. While Atreus can use his bow as a melee weapon, this build relies on staying back and keeping at a safe distance toallow for ranged battles to commence, all while keeping Atreus on top of everything that comes his way thanks to a priority in arrow-relatedskills and accessoriesand summons that further compliment stun and sonic arrows.
Bow
Talon Bow
Significantly increased Stun from Melee Attacks and bow shots. Regular Arrows are fired normally.
Bow Ability
Sharpshooter Stare
Slow down time and shoot three empowered arrows by Pressing R1
Wrath of the Wolf
Accessory
Sonic Aftershock
Melee Attacks against an enemy afflicted with Sonic deal significantly increased Stun.
Rune-Engraved Release
The first Runic Arrow from a full quiver deals greatly increased damage.
Skill
Sonic Echoes
Attacking enemies afflicted with Atreus' Sonic status creates bigger reverberations, applying Stun to nearby enemies.
Evasive Marksman
While evading, Hold L stick back and Press Light Attack to jump backward and shoot a barrage of arrows.
Focus Shot
Aim and Hold Light Attack for longer to charge up an even stronger arrow dealing increased damage and knockback. Headshots deal bonus damage.
This build is rather dependent on Atreus' skill tree from the Archery branch, as it will allow him to not only have more arrows but to increase the effectiveness of Sonic Arrows. With these skills at the focus, Atreus is going to be able to focus more on ranged damage instead ofgoing in for aggressive strikes, yet there are a few skills in place to ensure Atreus can have a quick escape from an arrow-barrage-filled evade. Firing Sonic arrows and rushing in for a finisher is the way to play with this relatively safe build.
1The Realm Shift Hunter
Prioritise Freezing Time and Utilising Stun Damage
The purpose of this Atreus build is to maximize the effectiveness of the Realm Shift and the Stun abilities that Atreus can dish out. Firstly, Realm Shift is extremely overpowered when utilized correctly, as players can time their evades and parries to ensure that the battle is always stopped in time, permitting Atreus to suspend enemies in the air and focus on a bounty of hard-hitting headshots. The Realm Shift Hunter isbest used with the following equipment:
Runic Summon
Falcon’s Dive
Summons spectral falcons that disrupt enemies and dive into the ground. Falcons apply status of the equipped Runic Arrow.
Dive Into Battle
Press Triangle to grapple towards an enemy and strike them with force. Applies status damage of the currently equipped Runic Arrow. Highly effective at closing the gap to mobile enemies.
Soaring Eagle Eye
Slow time down by Pressing L2 after Launching an enemy into the air.
Cunning Eagle Eye
Slow time down by Pressing L2 following a successful Parry (Press L1 right before getting hit.)
Rushing Ascent
While sprinting, Press R2 for a heavy vertical attack that Launches enemies. High Ground A powerful Heavy Attack Finisher at the end of the Light Attack Combo. Press R1, R1, R1, R1, R2, R2, R2, R2.
Warrior’s Reversal
Press R2 after a Parry (Press L1 right before getting hit.) to launch enemies airborne.
As players can see from the build requirements, players are going to need to focus on playing defensively to a degree, as they will want enemies to strike so that Atreus can parry and evade in order to slow down time when he is aiming his bow. Having time slowed during this time allows Atreus to synergize with his arrows better, as the accessories present will allow Atreus to deal more damage, and have more arrows, as well as build up further stun. It’s a repetitive process to slow time, shoot arrows, and then slow time again, but it works great againsthordes of unrelenting enemies.
