Downsize Surprise can be found in the Tentacle System and becomes available onceAstro Botplayers have completedthe Go-Go Archipelago! stage. Like other main stages in the game, Downsize Surprise has seven Bots and three Puzzle Pieces for players to find, as well as a secret exit.
Finding all of the collectibles in Downsize Surprise will requireAstro Botplayers to make use of the mouse power-up, which allows Astro to shrink down to just a fraction of his normal size. By doing so, they’ll be able to reach inaccessible areas to rescue Bots and collect Puzzle Pieces.
Downsize Surprise Bot #1
The first Bot is in a cage hanging from a tree to the right of the second area. To break it open, players will need to shrink down, get inside the cage by climbing up the toadstools, then revert to normal size.
Downsize Surprise Bot Puzzle Piece #1
On the left side of the second area is a tree stump with a wiggler-like enemy circling around it. After taking out the enemy by attacking all of the different sections, players will be able to pull a cable to reveal a hole in the stump, inside of which they’ll find the stage’s first Puzzle Piece.
Downsize Surprise Bot #2
There are three wooden crates on the left side of the second area. If players break these open, they’ll be able to shrink down and enter a small passageway that the crates were hiding. Once inside, they should revert to normal size and punch through the wall, behind which they’ll find the second Downsize Surprise Bot trapped in a spiderweb.
Downsize Surprise Puzzle Piece #2
A little later on in the stage, players will find themselves in a bedroom. If they stand in the plat pot while in mouse form and perform a spin punch, they’ll be taken up to a new area. From here, they’ll be able to climb some fixtures and appliances to reach the second Downsize Surprise Puzzle Piece, which is inside an air conditioning unit.
Downsize Surprise Bot #3
Still in the bedroom, if players shrink down, they’ll be able to get under the covers of the bed. After doing so, they should revert to normal size so that the covers are thrown aside, revealing the stage’s third Bot.
Downsize Surprise Bot #4
Immediately after exiting the bedroom, players should turn around to find a Bot clinging to the wall above the shaft that they just came through.
Downsize Surprise Bot #5
Not long after finding Bot #4, players will need to shrink down to climb up a tree. If they keep going all the way to the top, they’ll find a bird’s nest with a cameo Bot based on the Prince from theKatamarigames, who they’ll need tounlock the Royally Stuck Trophy at the Crash Site.
Downsize Surprise Bot #6
Opposite the structure with the cat trying to get the mouse inside the padlock is an area with a green frog. If players stand behind the frog and blow into their DualSense, it will start blowing bubbles. Players can then shrink down, hop onto one of the bubbles, and ride it up to find another Bot trapped inside a cage. Just like last time, they’ll need to hop inside the cage and revert to normal size to bust it open and free the Bot.
Downsize Surprise Portal / Secret Exit
To findthe Downsize Surprise warp portal, players should ride one of the frog’s bubbles up and then hop onto the branch from which the aforementioned cage is hanging. After jumping to the next branch, they’ll find the warp planet and can press the nearby button to activate it.
Downsize Surprise Bot #7
Players will be able to finda cameo Bot based on Quill from theMossgameshanging from a ledge near the giant clock that Astro has to climb to reach the stage’s main exit.
Downsize Surprise Puzzle Piece #3
The final Downsize Surprise Puzzle Piece is at the top of the giant clock.
