There are five main worlds players can travel to inAstro Botfollowed by dozens of secret worlds, levels, and so on followed by a smaller final zone. Altogether, there are six main bosses to fight which are all imaginative and challenging in their own way. Fans of Sony platformers will not be disappointed.

It should be mentioned that there are also mini-bosses in the game like Tama Trio who are a gang of baby birds that appear in theAstro Botlevel, Trunk of Funk. While unique, Tama Trio and the other mini-bosses that occur in normal stages don’t quite have the same impact. So, for now, let’s focus on the main bosses and rank them on things like challenge and creativity.

Fighting Wako Tako in Astro Bot

6Wako Tako

With Lots Of Room And A Good Power-Up, This Octopus Is No Problem

Wako Tako is an octopus and the second boss that players will fight is located inAstro Bot’sTentacle System. Players will get to use the Frog Gloves for this fight which is fitting since Wako Tako also has boxing gloves leading to a bit ofa boxing skirmish. Players will have to fight its minions and then pummel a few of its gloves before it will be knocked out. Players can then damage the head, which starts the process all over.

Unlike most boss encounters, there is a more elaborate fourth act which checkpoints players. They will have to run through a small platforming gauntlet and dodge watery waves before they can finish the job. The elaborateness of the fight stands out, making it a fun one to replay. It’s not that challenging since all of Wako Tako’s moves are given away and players have a large area to work with on top of everything being well-lit.

Fighting Falcon McFly in Astro Bot

5Falcon McFly

The Iron Ball Makes This Fight Relatively Safe

Falcon McFly is a giant bird and the fifth main boss right before the finale inAstro Bot’sFeather Cluster. The boss seems a bit dodgy at first since players are up in the air and can die if they fall off. However, the size of Falcon McFly’s stomach and wingspan give players plenty of room to run around in plus it is also well-lit.

Players get to use the weird Iron Suit power-up for this boss, which allows Astro Bot to go into a little ball. It’s kind of likeSamus’ ball form in theMetroidseriesexcept that Astro Bot is impervious to damage as a ball of iron. If players use this power-up well, they can negate any attack Falcon McFly throws at them. They just have to be wary of edging off this feathery fiend’s stomach as wide as it is.

Fighting Mighty Chewy in Astro Bot

4Mighty Chewy

The First Boss’ Fast Movements Are Quite Tricky

Mighty Chewy is a giant ape reminiscent of King Kong since Mighty Chewy is also trying to topple buildings. He appears inAstro Bot’sfirst galaxy, the Gorilla Nebula, and players get to use the Bulldog as a power-up. There are many rocket-powered devices in the game but the Bulldog rockets players forward at enemies which can harm them and the thrust is strong enough to break through thick coating like glass.

This is advantageous since part of Mighty Chewy’s attacks involves throwing panels of walls with glass in them. He also uses bells to try and ring out players from the match. For the first main boss inAstro Bot, Mighty Chewyis a tough one. He’s faster than most players would probably expect and on top of his normal phases involving taking out his eyes, players have to smash out his individual teeth too.

Fighting Lady Venomara in Astro Bot

3Lady Venomara

Balancing On A Platform Against This Snake Is Deadly

Lady Venomara is a giant snake that feels like a callback to an earlier game from 2024,Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, which also had a giant snake boss. Lady Venomara appears in Serpent Starway and is the third boss of the game. Players are armed with another rocket-powered animal to defeat her, the Chicken, which sends players flying vertically. That’s really the only difference from the Bulldog power-up.

This boss is tricky because the platform players are on is precarious and when Lady Venomara strikes, she takes up half the area leaving little room to dodge. This is another boss battle that morphs at the end too, forcing players to chase her in a jungle while dodging attacks and minions along the way. Like most snakes gigantic or tiny, they can be deadly if handled improperly.

Fighting Mecha Leon in Astro Bot

2Mecha Leon

Limited Time Makes For A Hectic Fight

Mecha Leon is a giant chameleon and it is the fourth boss residing in Camo Cosmos. This one is going to give players a lot of heart attacks because they have to be so pixel-perfect with their actions. Their power-up this time around is the Time Stopper whichcan literally stop timefor a set amount.

Players can use this extra time to dodge away from the many projectiles in this fight from missiles to buzz saws to fireballs. It’s a death trap pure and simple and while the Time Stopper is useful, the recharge phase is tricky to time out. In the final phase, players have little room to work with, so overall Mecha Leon is like a puzzle and one with many deadly traps attached.

Fighting Space Bully Nebulax in Astro Bot

1Space Bully Nebulax

That Roulette Wheel Is Killer

Space Bully Nebulax is the ultimate boss that everything was leading up to. The final galaxy, known as the Deja Vux Dimension, is a series of three levels strung together that players won’t realize are separate on their first go. The first phase takes them on a shmup-style shooter with tons of cameos fromrescued characters inAstro Bot. After that, the real battle begins with Space Bully Nebulax who wields a roulette wheel at the start of each phase.

Players can land on one of several power-ups or they can get barraged by smaller enemies. Players can try to time their button prompts on the roulette wheel to get an easy-to-understand boss phase like with the Octo-Balloon but it’s not an exact science. Players have to fight Space Bully Nebulax with at least three power-ups and in that time they may get unlucky to get a phase or two or twenty with minions. It truly is the luck of the draw and as a final boss, that’s how it should be. Space Bully Nebulax, as a level, is as creative as it is challenging thanks to the variety.
