Construction Derby is the fourth planet in the Gorilla Nebula and becomes available onceAstro Botplayers have completed either Az-Tech Trail orthe Creamy Canyon stage. As with the aforementioned areas, there are seven Bots and three Puzzle Pieces in Construction Derby, although there’s no Lost Galaxy Warp this time around.
Despite this, Construction Derby is arguably the most challengingAstro Botstage up to this point in the game, with some precise platforming needed to successfully make it to the end. Finding all of the Construction Derby collectibles along the way there is even trickier, although this task can be simplified with the help of this comprehensive guide.
Construction Derby Puzzle Piece #1
Before landing, players will be able to move the glider from left to rightusing gyro controls. The first Construction Derby Puzzle Piece is floating between two yellow beams on the left-hand side of the screen during this section of the stage.
Construction Derby Bot #1
A little further into the course, players will find a Bot hammering away on a red beam to their right. To rescue it, they’ll simply need to jump up and punch it.
Construction Derby Bot #2
There’s a metal canister hanging above the platform on the opposite side of a glass walkway not too far from the previous Bot. After defeating the enemies beneath it, players should pull on the cable hanging out of the bottom of this canister to reveal the second Construction Derby Bot.
Construction Derby Bot #3
Shortly after acquiring the pooch power-up, players will find themselves in an open area with a bunch of wooden boxes. Here, they’ll need to charge from platform to platform in order to reach the Bot above them.
Construction Derby Puzzle Piece #2
If players exit the area with the boxes via the archway to their right, they’ll be able to get a magnet by pulling the cable out of the ground. Assuming they broke a few of the boxes already, they can use the magnet to grab a bunch of metal cans and then throw it at the crane so that it spins around. After doing so, they can dash across and grab the stage’s second Puzzle Piece.
Construction Derby Bot #4
Not long after their first encounter with one of the giant golden bells, players will see a Bot being carried away by a flying enemy. Thankfully, it waits for them at the top of the nearby ladder, so they’ll just need to navigate the huge pile of boxes and then punch the levitating Bot to rescue it.
Construction Derby Bot #5
Soon after defeating the first sumo wrestler enemy of the stage, players will come to a balance board. They’ll want to hit the nearby switch to activate the water and then head down the board and into the blue hole in the wall nearby. In this next area, they should use the water cannon to create platforms on the far wall and then quickly hop across them to reach the ledge above. Once there, they’ll find a cameo Bot inspired by PaRappa Rappa, theiconic video game dogfrom thePaRappa the Rapperseries.
Construction Derby Bot #6
Not long after the balance board, players will find themselves on a platform with another sumo wrestler and an electric enemy. After defeating them both, they should charge over to the nearby yellow hover truck, on top of which they’ll find the sixth Construction Derby Bot.
Construction Derby Puzzle Piece #3
As they approach the end of the stage, players will come to a platform with some pink rabbit enemies on it. If they drop off the ledge to their left, they’ll find themselves in an area with a cable sticking out of the ground, and pulling this will reveal some green blocks similar to the gold ones fromthe Az-Tech Trail stage. This time, though, rather than pushing them forward, players will need to use Astro’s jets to push one of the blocks down. After doing so, the final Construction Derby Puzzle Piece will pop up out of the ground.
Construction Derby Bot #7
Once they’re back on the rabbit platform, players should head straight towards the rotating pane of glass and use it to reach the platform on the other side. There, they’ll find a cameo Bot based on Lammy from thePaRappa the Rapperseries anditsUm Jammer Lammyspin-off. They’ll need to be careful, though, as the pane of glass will start to break when they step on it.
