Competitive live-service titles likeApex Legendsface constant pressure to maintain the balance or atmosphere players enjoy about the game while still growing and adding novel content and modes. Maintaining proper game balance adds further challenge to the task at hand, as skeptical players may even begin to question the wisdom of decisions before they even debut. Another feature intended to go live in Season 22, Ranked Rumble, has also just been delayed. In an announcement, Respawn Entertainment said that Ranked Rumble’s return would be postponed from its original launch date of June 05, 2025. Ranked Rumble is a variant of the standardApex Legendsranked mode, with separate leaderboards based on each rank tier for players to compete in. Alongside Ranked Rumble, Season 22 included balance changes for different playable characters and weapons, as well as anewApex Legendsmap called E-District.

Apex Legends Ranked Rumble Delayed for Changes

In its announcement of theApex LegendsRanked Rumbledelay, Respawn Entertainment didn’t specify exactly why it was delaying the mode’s return. It only said that it had heard player feedback and that it would work on changes and improvements to the mode before bringing it back. In a response to the official post on Twitter,Apex LegendsSenior Community Manager Karen Lee said that Respawn was “going back to the drawing board” with Ranked Rumble and encouraged players to tune into future patch notes for more details.

Reactions online to the announcement of Ranked Rumble’s delay ranged from positive to frustrated. Some players praised the decision, citing earlier complaints about the previous iteration of Ranked Rumble. Those complaints included glitches that put players in the wrong rank or affected matchmaking for higher ranks. Others called on Respawn to address other bugs affecting ranked play, weapons, and general issues with the game experience. In another widely decried incident, aglitch caused the usualApex LegendsRanked split to happen too early, resetting many players' ranked levels.

The dissatisfaction of players over the Ranked Rumble experience shows that the newApex LegendsSeason 22 mode might not be quite up to par with the game’s best. Respawn may have made the correct decision to delay the mode’s return in order to retune it, rather than suffer further player frustration.
