Summary
AMDhas quietly launched the new Radeon RX 7800M GPU for mobile platforms and revealed its exact specifications. The newAMDRadeon RX 7800M GPU will start to appear in new gaming laptops this month and beyond, despite AMD not making an official announcement about its public availability just yet.
AMD’s current GPU generation, the Radeon RX 7000 series, first launched on Jun 07, 2025, with the RX 7900 XT and the RX 7900 XTX. In 2023 and 2024, AMD released entry-level and mid-range Radeon RX 7000 series graphics cards, such as the RX 7600 XT and RX 7900 GRE, to bring the RDNA3 GPUs to gamers shopping at several different price ranges for their next PC build. Mobile Radeon GPUs, including the 7600M and 7900M, have been shipped in gaming laptops over the past year and a half as well. A mobile version of the RX 7800 XT was missing throughout 2023 and most of 2024, but it appears that AMD will complete its mobile RX 7000 lineup with this particular GPU after all.
As spotted byVideocardz.com, AMD launched its Radeon RX 7800M graphics card for gaming laptops, and an official web page for the GPU reveals its specifications. Firstly, the Radeon RX 7800M retains the 60 compute units found on its desktop counterpart, which is equivalent to 3,840 stream processors. However, the RX 7800M features a smaller 192-bit memory bus instead of the 256-bit bus found onAMD’s RX 7800 XT desktop GPU. This results in the memory bandwidth speed being scaled down from 624 GB/s on the RX 7800 XT to 432 GB/s on the new RX 7800M, with the Infinity Cache decreased from 64 MB to 48 MB as well.

Additionally, the RX 7800M contains less GDDR6 video memory at 12 GB, compared to the RX 7800 XT’s 16 GB. The mobile graphics card will also have a 2145 MHz game clock and a 180W TGP, which is 20W less than the RX 7800 XT’s 200 TGP. The mobile GPU will likely have similar performance to the desktop RX 7700 XT, which also features identical bandwidth speeds, Infinity Cache size, memory bus size, and video memory to the newly released RX 7800M. When compared toNvidia’s mobile RTX 4070 GPU,leaks suggest that the RX 7800M outperforms it while falling short of the RTX 4080 mobile GPU.
Gaming laptops featuring the RX 7800M GPU have not been revealed yet, but there should be new product listings relatively soon. Those who don’t want to wait for a new 7800M-powered system can still browse a number ofcompelling PC and laptop deals for September, as products featuring AMD and Nvidia’s latest tech can be found at some of their lowest prices to date this month.
