Soaks in Chapter 6: Unfinished
The final Chapter ofBlack Myth: Wukongcontains only a single soak. This soak, calledFlower Primes, is added to Shen Monkey’s shop at the start of Chapter 6.The Flower Primes will purge any and all Four Banes effectsfrom the Destined One each time you take a sip, acting as an excellent counter to any foe that can wield multiple elements. While there are only a few such foes in the game, they tend to be among the strongest. Even when going up against an enemy that only uses one element, this remains a great emergency option for purging negative effects.
Other Soaks
The game’s final two soaks, Graceful Orchid and Guanyin’s Willow Leaf, require you to complete some extra steps before you can add them to your collection.
Graceful Orchid
TheGraceful Orchidcan be obtained at the Zodiac Village in the Ruyi Scroll, by speaking with Chen Loong after giving him all 15 possible seeds. Since these seeds are, for the most part, obtained randomly when picking plants throughout the game’s six chapters, this can be rather difficult.
After gathering all the seeds and handing them in to Chen Loong, you’ll receive the Graceful Orchid Soak, which causes the Destined One to regenerate additional health over time after taking a sip. This is functionally similar to theCelestial Lotus Seeds, though the Graceful Orchid lasts longer and restores more health.
Guanyin’s Willow Leaf
Guanyin’s Willow Leafcanonly be found during New Game Plus, so you’ll need to beat the game and enter a new cycle before you can try to collect it. This Soak can then be purchased from Shen Monkey once you meet him again in the new Cycle. Guanyin’s Willow Leaf will restore the Destined One’s Gourd uses when they are resurrected during battle, clearly intended to be used alongside the Life-Saving Strand spell. This can be used alongside the aforementioned spell to completely reset the Destined One to full strength in the middle of a fight, should he be defeated, though this means foregoing the raw power offered by Pluck of Many.
Beyond its gameplay utility, this final soak also raises an interesting question.Bodhisattva Guanyin is a major character in Journey to the West, yet she is barely mentioned throughoutBlack Myth: Wukong. Aside from a brief appearance at the end of Chapter 1, and a mention in Black Bear Guai’s journal entry, she is shockingly absent from the story. Perhaps future DLC will explore her current whereabouts.
