7 Days to Dieispacked with different recipesyou can make to survive a little easier, and Goldenrod Tea is an essential one to get your hands on - especially in the earlier game stages. It’s great for hydration and treating illness, and thankfully, you don’t have to look too far to get the ingredients you need to make it.
The only caveat, as it is with most crafting in7 Days to Die, is that you need a certain Cooking Skill level and some tools to craft Goldenrod Tea. It’s not particularly expensive to make, and it doesn’t take too much looting and leveling to get the tea, but knowing where to look can make the process a lot easier from the get-go. Plus, once you’re further in your game stage, you’re able to start crafting Goldenrod Tea without even looking for ingredients outside your base.
How to Craft Goldenrod Tea in 7 Days to Die
You can’t make Goldenrod Tea without firsthaving a Cooking Potin7 Days to Die, so your first step is to find one. You can usuallyfind Cooking Pots in various POIs, but you can also buy one from a Trader or craft one yourself. The easiest way is to look for one in the wild to loot, though, because they can be expensive to buy and costly to craft at first. Once you have a Cooking Pot, all you need to do is craft a campfire and then add the pot to it in the top right corner.
You needone Goldenrod Flower and one Waterto craft Goldenrod Tea. You can find the flowers all over the Forest Biome and harvest them by punching them or hitting them with a weapon. They’ve got a golden hue to them, which is different from the grass and Chrysanthemum flowers. You can either buy Water from traders, find it as loot in towns and POIs, or you can make it yourself. To make Water, you just need to boil Murky Water at your campfire.
Now that you have your Cooking Pot and your ingredients, the last thing you need is aLevel 4 Cooking Skill. you may upgrade your Cooking Skill by reading the Home Cooking Weekly Crafting Magazine, which you can also find while exploring POIs, buying from traders, oras a reward for completing quests. You have everything you need now, so the last thing to do is actually craft the tea. Here’s how to do it:
Additionally, make sure that you have enough Wood so your campfire can burn and cook the tea. Goldenrod Tea takes 1:40 to finish boiling, so you need enough wood to last that time (or more, if you’re making more tea). You can check how much fuel you have for your fire underneath “Fuel” on the right-side menu.
How to Farm Goldenrod Tea
As you get into the later game stages of7 Days to Die, you’ll be able to start farming cooking ingredients, and Goldenrod Flowers is one of them. All you need is aGoldenrod Seed and a Farm Plot Block. Once you have both, plant the Goldenrod Seed in the Block, and you’ll have a fresh flower to harvest in about three days in-game time. To craft a Farm Plot Block, you need:
Wood can be chopped from trees using your Stone Axe, Rotting Flesh can be harvested from corpses,Nitrate Powder can be found while mining, and Clay Soil can be harvested by digging up ground. Once you have your ingredients, you can craft the Farm Plot Block from the building menu. If you want to craft Goldenrod Seeds, you need tohave a Level 4 Farming Skill. You can increase this skill by reading the Southern Farming Crafting Magazine.
Why Goldenrod Tea is Worth Making
Goldenrod Tea gives you +24 Hydration, but the main reason you’ll want to make itis that it cures Dysentery. Initially, Dysentery doesn’t have much of an effect, but if you leave it untreated it starts reducing your fullness and hydration by the second. It gets pretty impossible to manage, and you may even find yourself starving to death or completely dehydrated. Just be aware thatGoldenrod Tea only removes 20% of a Dysentery infection, so make sure you drink it quickly after you get infected to make sure you’re completely healed.
You can get Dysentery in7 Days to Diefrom eating Old Sham Sandwiches, Raw Meat, and Rotting Flesh, or from drinking Murky Water. It’s always best to eat canned food or drink Purified Water, but this is not always possible, so getting Dysentery is almost a given especially in the early game.
