Castlevania: Nocturnerecentlyshowcased a teaser for its second season, and some details about the sneak peek haven’t escaped the watchful eye of the fans. Meanwhile, other things might be a little trickier to notice for people who are not hardcore followers of Konami’s flagship IP.
This list features five minor details about Castlevania: Nocturne season 2 trailer that you probably missed. From subtle hints of a time skip, to the ominous presence of a returning threat from the past.
5Richter, Maria, and Annette Seem To Be Older
And Hopefully More Experienced
In a micro-cut from the trailer, we see Maria facing a probably vampirical Tera, she looks a little bit more resolute and aligned with her own magical capabilities. Meanwhile, another clip shows Annette facing her past (again) she looks slimmer, taller, and more experienced in using her gift to connect with Ogun’s legacy. Then, Richter appears in his classic cut-sleeve attire. He looks buffed, pissed, and ready to crush some vampire skulls.
But there’s another detail that seems to be less evident among all these breadcrumbs, and that is the fact that between seasons 1 and 2 there will be a time skip. It will probably befilled with flashbacks of training scenesand some fill-ins about Alucard’s journey. We will have to wait until January 2025 to see how much the characters have progressed through their training, and how much of that progress is due to Alucard’s intervention.

Castlevaniafans might already know thatAlucard, Dracula’s wayward son, has a tendency to be aloof and detached from the rest of the world. Thus, he also has a tendency to isolate himself and travel across the world (or sleep throughout the ages like any vampire would do), going on a seclusion training of sorts, and meditating about the best ways to rid humanity of his father’s legacy.
InCastlevania: Nocturneseason 2 trailer, we see him traveling across the desert, under the reddish light of the moon. Perhaps these events are revealed in a flashback, where Alucard was tracking clues about Bathory’s association with the cult of Sekhmet. Be it as it may, it is obvious that producers owe it to the fans to shed some light on how the main villain of the story has risen to power, since we only witnessed that dramatic scene where she was able to cause a permanent eclipse, without a care for the laws of astrophysics.
3Alucard Seems To Be On The Peak Of Power
Dracula’s Son At Its Prime
In the final seconds of the short trailer, Alucard finally showcases his true vampirical nature. His eyes turn reddish with yellow irises, and his blade glows with a crimson fire, in opposition to Richter’s blueish purifying flames. Could it be that Alucard has finally embraced his father’s legacy as King of Vampires and is ready to fight fire with fire? Lore-wise, Alucard always rejected his vampirical side, but at the same time, heavily relied on his supernatural abilities to fight against darkness.
A contradiction made flesh, Dracula’s son might finally have come full circle with his past. But then, this pops out a lot of questions about how he got this powerful. Is it possible that he and his father met again?Did Dracula train his sonafter resurrecting from hell at the end ofCastlevania? Perhaps, those questions will be answered sooner than we expected, when the second season of the series hits the streaming service next winter.
2The Eclipse Has Caused Vampires To Devolve
Those “Beasties” Look Angry
As Alucard and Richter approach Countess Bathory for a final confrontation (or so it seems), she is just chilling there, eating a corpse. When she looks at the pair her visage is absolutely transformed into that of a beast, and she barely resembles something human. Could she have suffered from some sort of regression into a more primal form of vampire due to the permanent Eclipse?
Castlevaniafans are no strangers to the concept of “forms,” and throughout the game series, Dracula has showcased more than just his aristocratic snobbish visage who likes to quip about the human condition and throw glass goblets at the feet of his enemies. If that is the case, then why does Countess Bathory’s form look so “out of bounds”? Perhaps the constant exposure to an eternal night has caused some sort of negative effect on all vampires, and that means that they’re not just trying to exert control over the world, but they are brutally slaughtering every living creature they see, and this only leads to one thing: a battle for survival.
1Is Olrox Back?
An Ominous Reminder Of His Power
The fleeting romance between the gallant Olrox and the conflicted Mizrak ended up in shambles, and that means that the ancient (Aztec?) vampire has nothing to lose, and that also means he is no longer an ally. At some point, Richter will have to face his Nemesis again, even though that means putting everything he fought for at risk. Revenge is a powerful motivator, and the presence of Olrox laughing in the background, showing himself as a ghostly shadow might mean the Belmont’s Legacy heir has not overcome the burdens of his past.
But, at the same time, in the small cut where Olrox appears, there’s something weird about his appearance that reminds us of a former and powerful foe of theCastlevaniaseries: Death. Could Olrox true identity be that of the spirit of Death? After all, it is nearly impossible to kill something that goes beyond God. Perhaps whenTrevor Belmont faced the monstrous beingat the battle in Dracula’s Castle, he didn’t obliterate this being completely, it just made him reincarnate again. Since Olrox’s character has greatly changed from the original one seen in the games to the sharply dressed vampire we see in the series, could it be possible for his origins to be twisted in such a way? Time will tell.
